Weird. I'm splitting a video of an imported MP4 into clips. Because the video is long, I've sped it up. However, when I place the playhead line at the place I want to split a clip (after someone stops speaking) the clip _does not split at that point in the video_. It happened constantly and I had to try to compensate for it by guessing how long to offset the playhead to get the clip to split at the right point — an inefficient guess-and-check process). Then I tried to set the clip speed back to normal and things worked properly/as expected regarding clip splitting. This seems like a bug. Can anyone else reproduce it or am I a 🦄?

Thx.

P.S.- Is there a way to PLAY a clip at a higher speed during editing without CHANGING the final clip speed "permanently"? I hate having to go back and reset the speed of all clips back to Normal. #bonuspoints

I don't use iMovie, but in FCP you can use JKL to reverse/pause/play the video, with multiple hits speeding it up. Works in QuickTime as well.

If all you need is splitting a video, you may want to check out LosslessCut. As its name implies it can cut video losslessly.
