In n' Out Burger

I've had it twice in California and found it to be utterly spectacular. Of course, that could be because of the memories of those trips and the fabulous people I was with.

They are amazing...I made it a point to go there when I was in San Francisco last year, and I think I ended up going three times. Definitely one of the best, freshest tasting burgers I've ever had. Mmmmm...getting hungry

X by Y - X meat patties and Y slices of cheese (for example, a 3 by 3 or a 2 by 4)
3 by Meat - Three meat patties without cheese.
Animal Style - A mustard cooked beef patty served on a bun with pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, extra spread and grilled onions.
Animal Style Fries - Fries with cheese, spread, and grilled onions.
Double Meat - Double meat without cheese.
Extra Everything - A regular order with extra cheese, spread, onions (regular or grilled), and lettuce making the wrapper exceed it's limit.
Flying Dutchman - Two meat patties, two slices of melted cheese and nothing else.
Fries "Light" - Almost raw fries.
Fries "Well" - Extra crispy fries, simply cooked longer.
Grilled Cheese - Two slices of melted cheese, tomato, lettuce and spread on a bun, with no meat. You can also get a Grilled Cheese Animal Style (grilled onions are added).
Neopolitan Shake - All three shake flavors (strawberry, vanilla and chocolate) combined in one shake.
Protein Style - Instead of a bun, the burger is wrapped in lettuce. You can also get a Grilled Cheese Protein Style.

No, I don't particularly like eggplant, especially with ketchup and pickles and cheese.
Out of all the good beef in Texas, you think I should like Whataburger? We have them here in Floriduh, too, and they're just as bad. I thought I'd made some mistake when I tried one just west of Houston, but I've tried 4 different stores in all.
Jack in the Box, Hardees/Carl's Jr., Checkers/Rallys, In-n-Out, Del Taco, Burger King, Wendy's, and possibly even McDonald's are better.
If you make your order at the window that you pick up your order. They print Home-Run on your receipt.

5guys fries are far superior, burger can be dry (some he's been to routinely overcook) at times and suffers from A-1 syndrome. compares to Rally's on the west coast.
In N Out, good overall classic burger. fries could be better.
Eh... their burgers are ok. If I do get one it's animal style. Not bad for fast food. The fries are terrible though. Do they not soak them before cooking? Talk about dry and tough!
I can point you to a dozen better burger joints though. The only time I ever go is when I'm with someone who won't shut up about how good In'n'Out is...

But I loved the joke William Gibson made about it in Virtual Light, where Rydell and Chevette drive by an abandoned In 'n Out Burger whose sign has lost a couple of letters, resulting in the following:

Alas, Gibson doesn't get credit for that one. Hundreds and hundreds of Southern Californians in the 1980s modded their In-n-Out Burger bumper stickers in the same manner.

Ralleys is good, love then never tried 5Guys.
I must agree though the frys at In-n_out are the low point. Whataburger and Ralleys have no problems with burgers or frys everytime I eat there. But then Again Ralleys is a trip to Phoenix lol.
