Yes, but do you think this could also be interpreted as both for delivery and store pickup? Perhaps the pickup option will be available, come the 24th. It would only make sense based on how heavily advertised the 04.24.15 date is.

Even if Personal Pickup is enabled, that doesn't mean the stock will be in the store. If there is no stock, your order is shipped to an Apple Store, where you can then pick it up.

In Store Availability April 24th

At my try on appointment they said they expect at most a few bands in store on launch day, but we all know the stores rarely know what they are getting for launch.

The whole Angela doesn't want lines I think is specific to the watch. The reason they aren't offering it in store on the 24th is simple to me. This is a brand new product. A product not like any other product apple ever offered before. If they were to offer it in stores on the 24th, inevitably there would be massive lines of campers all wanting different styles, sizes colors, bands, etc. it would be absolute chaos. No way apple is gonna have that mess on launch day.

And for that reason..I'm out.

They said available, they didn't say by what means.

Why would they continue to advertise "available 4/24/15" with no way of being able to purchase it that way? With how fast they update the shipping notice for products, they would have been a lot more likely to say "pre-order now" or something along those lines.

Just because you didn't get a preorder that's arriving on the 24th doesn't mean thousands of others didn't either.

The watch will be available on the 24th to those who actually preordered in the middle of the night, thus apple is fulfilling it's advertisement. That's like saying Apple is misleading because you stood in line for an iPhone on launch day and didn't get one so they lied about release date.

Angela is trying to make us go back to the showroom style of selling, showing the products off in the store and selling them online, which is fantastic.

It helps weed out the idiotic employees and also helps out the resellers and customers who stand first in line with 10 other resellers, and then buy 20 phones to sell them at a 75 percent markup right outside the store to people who didn't get one.

It also helps prevent people that come visit from other countries pulling our stock and preventing local customers not getting one, if you want one, order online and have it shipped.

I'm sorry, what's that? You won't be here because you'll be back in your country, then order it from your country or wait for it to be released.

Personally. I'm digging what Angela is doing and I hope our stores go back to being a showroom for most of our products.

I don't think anyone got a promised 4/24 delivery. Why do I think this? Security. In order to guarantee delivery on the 24th they would have to pre deliver to the local Fed Ex etc hubs. And then they would have to send out a notice not to deliver until the 24th. Those holds expose that its a launch day product. What's to stop someone from snatching some of them. Not worth it.

So they ship them out to the hubs to hit many doors on the 24th and every who is further away gets them over the following few days. But no one can get them early due to an accident of missing the hold notice. and no one gets tipped off by a hold on tons of packages as to the contents

Angela stating the Watch is only available to order online during the initial launch period here doesn't effectively cancel out this statement:

On April 24, Apple Watch will be available online or by reservation in Apple’s retail stores and select Apple Authorized Resellers in China and Japan. Customers who purchase online or in-store from Apple will be offered Personal Setup to customize and pair Apple Watch with their iPhone.

I'm betting the personal pickup option will be available come launch on the 24th even if supply is severely limited. Exclusively online doesn't necessarily mean it won't be available to pick up in-store, it could simply mean you won't be able to get it without first purchasing it online - effectively eliminating the mess of massive queues at retail stores. If this is the case, I'll be canceling my June preorder without doubt.

Showroom selling is a horrible strategy in the electronics industry. There are far too many people that want an item right when they want it and will consider other options if the item they want is not available. Sort of like how people will impulse purchase cars that cost thousands of dollars when all they were planning on doing is test driving and figuring out what they want for a later date.

If I'm wrong, then there wouldn't be any Best Buy Stores around any longer and Walmart/Target wouldn't sell electronics. Best Buy stores are struggling right now but thats more of because of the lower prices offered by companies like Amazon, so Best buy has to price match to keep customers.

Both an in-store employee and two Apple chat support team members have said that the stores WILL have stock in stores on the 24th. That said the stock will be limited in availability and selection. So yes, there will be stock unless all three of those people are mistaken.

In the UK there will not be any availability in stores (according to the Specialist I spoke to today) during the launch period (however long that lasts).

The only way to get a Watch is ordering online and having it home delivered.

You can order in-store, via the app, or the regular website- though there is no variance between delivery times.

Your probably right, but it just doesn't feel right. The fact that they are still listing as "available 4/24/15" despite all pre-orders being listed as shipping in june.

Shipping in June after all the previous preorders. The early shoppers got a delivery date of 4/24 - 5/8.

Since the first watches will be in customers hands on 24th- that's the first day of 'availablity'.

I was told yesterday at the Apple store that the watch would be available for pre-order early am 4/24 for store pick-up that day. Today I was told at the same store that there was not likely to be any available at the store on 4/24 because they would all be sold out by online orders by then. Mine is not due to ship until June, so I will be watching closely on 4/23 to see if there is any possibility of in store pick-up.

Ain't gonna happen, but I'll be checking at 12:01AM on 4/24 anyway :D

Im sure this has been posted to death but here is a memo to the employees about next Friday. My favorite is the part where people will start receving there watch !!

The Apple Stores won't be carrying any watches in stock for walk-in purchase (without a pre-order reservation), however, I spoke to a salesclerk at Maxfield in Los Angeles today who confirmed they will have the watches in stock for sale on April 24th. The only catch is, you have to make an appointment to be shown the watch, after which you may purchase it.

Unfortunately that's it in LA. But good news if you live there or any of the other major cities around the world Apple will likely have stock per this earlier press release:

" we expect that strong customer demand will exceed our supply at launch," said Angela Ahrendts, Apple's senior vice president of Retail and Online Stores. "To provide the best experience and selection to as many customers as we can, we will be taking orders for Apple Watch exclusively online during the initial launch period."

Also beginning April 24, the Apple Watch will be available at boutiques in major cities including colette in Paris, Dover Street Market in London and Tokyo, Maxfield in Los Angeles and The Corner in Berlin, and select Apple Authorized Resellers in China and Japan.

Websites for both Maxfield and The Corner clearly show they will have watches in store on 4/24.

There will have to be some very limited availability. I ordered a few before I got to try on to ensure I ordered the watch I wanted. I will be returning the others to the retail Apple Store. I would assume they would just put these in their stock as they have when I have returned iPads or macs.

People have gotten Apple products early because some slipped through the cracks that were supposed to be held.
And the date range is not for security. The watches will all be in various warehouses being held until they are able to deliver them. This is a normal routine for Apple products. The areas are properly secured and extra security is in place as long as they sit there.

The only catch is, you have to make an appointment to be shown the watch, after which you may purchase it.

Did they give any more info on the appointment process? Can you make one now? Or what stock they will have?

And yet no matter how many times we repeat this and cite official Apple statements saying this, people still think we're making it up.

I emailed The Corner earlier and they asked which model I would like to buy and make a reservation for. After giving my answer, it's been silence for two days.

I Just called them and the friendly fellow told that they will have no availablity in the shop and that you cannot buy a watch from the corner. Just online from Apple Online Store.

Sigh..

No, they offered to transfer me to the person who was scheduling the appointments, which I did not do because I am not planning on going in to buy one on the 24th. But, yes, they would have taken my reservation for an appointment to buy a watch on the 24th, without a pre-order.

They confirmed there would be watches for sale, and not just demos to view.

The stock looks like it might be custom combinations chose by Maxfield, rather than the full product line options.

What's the difference between Dracula and the idea of buying AW's in store on the 24th?
Dracula dies when you put a stake in him.
