I ordered an iPhone 11 Pro for pick up and had a check in time and everything and I just got an email saying there’s been a “logistical issue” ... anyone else get this email?

Thank you for your recent order with the Apple Store. We know you’re excited to pick up your new product.
Unfortunately, due to some last minute logistical issues, your order will not be ready for pickup during your check-in time.
As soon as your order is ready for pickup, we’ll let you know via email. We expect this to be no later than 1 to 2 days.
We apologize for the delay in getting your new product into your hands. We’re working quickly to resolve this issue.

Ya. It happens.

Where are you supposed to pick it up? Texas?

If so, they have some deadly flooding going on that might be a priority.

won’t be long. Hang tight.

Maine :( Weather is normal around here. I think they just didn’t get enough phones delivered or something.

Usually means a UPS issue. You’re better off buying one from store inventory as they’ll certainly have them in stock.

I’m in houston and expected something like this, but haven’t received anything yet. Sorry this is happening to you.

If UPS/FEDEX has an issue delivering his phone for pickup to the store he is supposed to pick it up from, I wouldn’t be too confident in the store having inventory for walk-ins since they would probably use the same carrier for launch day.

To be seen.

I had this happen last year, shipment got delayed and I was in the first pickup time slot of the day. I ended up going there anyway and they just gave me the same phone that was reserved for someone else in a later time slot. Guess they knew the shipment was coming in soon. They could also just give you a phone out of the walk-in stock. I know it took a little longer than normal because they had to switch the serial number of the reserved phone but it wasn’t a big inconvenience.

I got the same email. I’m just outside Boston, the store app is still showing my appointment so I’ll probably go in anyways.

Received same email here. Hoping to pick up at the Apple store near Springfield, MA. Must be along east coast / New England.

Just got an email from Apple

There’s a few threads on this already. This happened to me last year, it means the store didn’t receive the shipment with your phone in it yet. You can try and go up there during your reservation slot and see if they’ll give you one from the walk in stock or there’s a chance the shipment will come in by your time slot depending on when that is.

Got the same one in Pasco WA! Very frustrating, likely will just cancel the order. Sending an email to Tim Cook now

I was looking forward to this road trip... the store is about an hour and a half drive and I have a number of errands to do so I might just go anyway. My time slot was supposed to be 1:30 to 2pm

To be seen.

It involves two separate shipments. The store inventory comes from local distribution centers where the inventory was shipped from China a few days ago. The individual pick up orders were shipped from China just now.

That’s why you never or should never see an Apple Store have zero demo units or zero walk in stock.

I would be bummed too. But just try to keep perspective of this in the grand scheme of things and know you’ll have it in your hands soon. Maybe stop by the store if it’s not too far and get a fix from the display units, breath in the energy, and build excitement for that email that your phone is ready!

If they have walk in stock, shouldn’t they give those to the people who pre ordered instead?...
