I got excited today when I got a shipment notice from Apple for one of the 2 I ordered on opening night (10 days ago).

Then I checked tracking and realized it's shipping from China, so it'll be another week+...

It's sort of a let down since I avoided the lines with the last several models and still received them on day 1.

I guess waiting in line is the wave of the future. Think different?
 
This is horrendous. How can Apple sink so low as a company. No iphone 5s in stock. Is it a mythical device???:mad:

the entitlement is unparalleled.

its a very popular device. it sold million of copies. they dont come out of thin air, and if you were too slow to get one of the first then theres no one to be upset at other than yourself.

I picked up my 5s in NYC in the bronx from a Boost Mobile store....... they had 5cs and 5Ss available..................
 
This is just plain crazy. They had plenty of time to manufacture and stockpile these phones over the past few months. This way they just p*** off everyone, including otherwise loyal customers.
 
My girlfriend ordered an iPhone 5S Gold 32gb for AT&T (USA) with the order submitted at 12:05am, mere minutes after they started taking preorders.
The current status right now is still in the "Processing" phase, just as it was over a week ago when the order was first placed. No change.

Still says expected delivery of Oct 8-11, so they still have time with free standard shipping, but it is cutting it close. I was hoping it was a safe over-estimate, and it would get delivered early as a nice surprise.

My friend and I ordered our phones in at&t,champaign,IL on sept. 20 afternoon.
He got a 32gb gray, while mine is gold.
Initially, both of our orders' estimation were shown " oct. 21~30"
But my friend got an email on 22th, telling him his phone is on the way. He eventually got it on 24th. On the contrary, mine is still " oct. 21~30". Sad

My point was that after the store closes,the inventory will be updated at 10pm so folks can order after store hours and pick up when they choose.Last year,the inventory DID NOT update during the day.

Oh ok,I remember that as well. I was just suggesting for some not to only check after 10pm,but throughout the day. I kept checking all day starting at 8am (last Monday) and at 3pm (pst) they had them in stock at a few stores near me.
 
I've already seen a couple dozen of them here in Tokyo. Today, in fact, I saw a guy in his 80s on the street checking a white 5c. Very cool that Apple tech is being used by not only the "digital" generation, but also by senior citizens!

Glad to see Apple products coming around in Japan. When I was there, I hardly met anyone who owned a Mac or iPhone. Kind of disappointing for such a technologically-rich country to be using everything Windows. (Yes, I unabashedly look down upon any computer products that aren't apple. :))
 
Finally. Was hoping they'd bring it back. All silver and gold models are still out of stock within a 50 mile radius. Really want that gold...
 
Nice. Really wish they would have had better inventory planning and in-store pickup from the get go.

I had ordered a 32gb Space Gray AT&T and fell into the 7-10 group, although I really thought it was going to ship last week but didn't. Happened to be by an Apple Store Saturday and stopped in. They had it in stock. So one of the Sales reps got asked for one from the back and when we had it in hand I went on line and cancelled my order on one of the display MBP. She rang me up and it took a few attempts for it to say I was eligible again for an upgrade, but after a few minutes it went through.

Did you really just wish they had better inventory planning, then proceed to tell us that their estimate for shipping was likely in fact correct, and that you did you best to screw with Apple's ability to handle inventory planning by making and canceling orders?

What you did likely didn't make any difference to anyone, but still, the principle...
 
I went Saturday am to Apple in Tampa,FL they told me they did not have any for sale in Gold for any carriers. I waited around the mall came back around 1pm and they magically had some but it was only 16 Gold. I need 64! So close and so sad!:mad:

In-store pickup is a way to piss off customers? I don't follow. Manufacturing these phones is not easy. There are very few companies in the world that have to deal with manufacturing mass quantities of specialized components that Apple has to deal with. We've already heard reports that the fingerprint scanner component was on short supply which caused low quantities. Apple can't magically get them made faster.

Yea....you know all about how modern mass-scale electronics manufacturing works, I am sure. :rolleyes:
 
I ordered on day 1 and mine still hasn't shipped yet. Not a big deal, I'm patient, but I'm also a little irritated to find out that apparently you can now order today and simply walk into a store and pick it up same day. I feel like I'm being penalized for ordering early.

Don't feel bad,keep checking online. If you find one in store,cancel your online order,then order for in store pickup. That's what I did last Monday and now I have my 5S. I'm currently checking for my GF's 16gb gold. I ordered at 12:02 on the 20th for her and her's is still showing not shipped.
 
This is great new for all those who haven't got theirs yet. I'm still trying to locate a gold for my GF.

Last time I checked there were none in the Bay.

Just ordered my Gold through AT&T website. estimated availability for shipping is November 5-25..... :(

Wow... I'm guessing you'd find one on apple first if you kept checking every 30 min/hour or so.
 
Looks like Grand Rapids MI. has some 16gb AT&T golds....if anyone is in that area

Speaking of which... within the last hour or so, my girlfriend's 32gb gold 5S got changed from processing to "Preparing for Shipment". No longer eligible for cancellation. Lucky. :)
So they are moving along, and hopefully your batch is upcoming soon :)


Does anyone know from experience how long Standard Shipping will take, particularly to the Western United States? Once it is officially shipped.
 
I picked up my 16GB Space Gray at Stanford Shopping Plaza in Palo Alto, CA...in and out in less than 15 minutes.

I was the ONLY customer in the store and they had PLENTY of Space Grays in all GB available. Yes, silver and gold are nowhere to be seen...thus the reason for me being the only customer there.

I called 3 local Apple Stores and they all had plenty of Space Grays and 5Cs available....I cancelled my online order because I wasn't going to wait until Oct 7-10 when the Space Gray was already available locally. Ridiculous if you ask me.

I hate how the retail stores are run independently from online..you can't even ask online to arrange pickup because their systems do not communicate with one another.
