Ok I will eat my hat. I got a gunmetal slider today and it fits like a glove. Go figure.

So I headed over to my apple store to check out their selection of cases. I must admit I walked in expecting to buy the slider based on my Internet research over the last couple of days. I gave a quick look at their selection (which was actually quite big to be perfectly honnest) and I didn't find anything anything better than the slider for my target look and feel.

I really wanted the charcoal grey touch model but they only had black and white so I ended up picking up the black.

After a couple of hours usage, I am very happy with my purchase. The thickness of the case is extremely thin and the feel of the mattte finish feels great in your hands.

The only thing that worries me is the matte finish might peel off. This is the same matte finish you see on lenovo machines, certain Nokia cell phones and the nintendo dsi. There is no doubt in my mind that once this case starts showing signs of wear and tear and has taken a couple of good hits and/or scratches, it will start to peal. I hope I am wrong as iam really liking it otherwise.

Also mine fits just right sono complaints on that front from me.

Early versions last year suffered from some peeling, but those problems seem to have been corrected, or at least the complaints have died down.

My own black matte slider has lasted, basically intact, for just under a year. The only noticeable wear are some shiny areas of the sharpest points of the area covering the bezel, where the matte has worn off. This after 300 days of being put into and pulled out of a pants pocket.

In short, the matte finish seems pretty durable.

Add me to the black matte peeling list. Started with a small little peel that wasn't a big issue, now it's in random spots all over the case.

I tried calling them to see how I could get it replaced and they need a receipt. For $35, the case shouldn't peel. Looks ghetto.

It fits fine on a 32 GB 3Gs though.

I am also looking for a holster. Incase makes one, but it did not get good reviews at all. (both people said that the clip broke.) I REALLY need a holster, so if you find one that fits, PLEASE, let me know.

i got the white incase slider and it fits on my 16gb 3GS but it seems to pull up the screen protector on the bottom corners and the edges. not sure if its because of me not putting the screen protector on correctly but i think i did. any ideas?

and the ceo marware premium works with the incase slider, just a tight fit but closes perfectly.

all you have to do to determine if the protector is properly aligned is look at the ear piece and the home button. Both should have a completely even ring of space around them where there is no protection. If the empty space is lopsided to the left or right, or top/bottom, your protector is misaligned and the edge of the slider case will likely catch it.

My partner bought the Monochrome for her's. It doesn't fit as nicely as I would like...not a perfect seal where the 2 pieces meet. She hasn't even noticed it though

I have the metallic silver slider, and it fits seemlessly.

I have the new InCase Slider w/ the tactile grip on my 3GS and I have had absolutely no problems whatsoever. I love this thing and would buy it all over again if I had to.

The bottom piece stays on tight, there is no movement around, I do not see any chrome, and it fits together perfectly with no gaps.

Perhaps an exchange and putting your 3GS in one at the store before leaving? I know when I was there, the rep gladly let me do so...

Ok, I thought it was just me being my first time ever using a case for my iPhone. I have the same case but in black (may take it back to get the gunmetal) for my 32GB Black version iPhone 3GS. It was hard as hell to get on and even hard as hell to take off. The case is too small it seems. I still have it on and will try to exchange it tomorrow. Furthermore, the matte coating substance they use is already peeling (had it for 3 days so far) and starting to show the glossy underneath. For $35 and tax, I expected better. Going to the Apple store tomorrow.

yeah, mine is pretty difficult to slide off too. i also have a "creaking" noise when i press inwards on the right of the large top half near where the the 2 parts come together. i have the gunmetal color.

well from hearing everyones thoughts, (some fit, some don't, some loose, some too night), it seems this case is hit or miss.

weird because the metallic red i had, fit perfectly on my 3G

now the charcoal slider i have, has a slight gap where they meet (32gb 3G S)

sucks because i gotta go through incase returns because apple doesn't sell the charcoal slider in store

but honestly with the slight gap, it's still my favorite case...and the charcoal is sweet looking in person

Loved the feel and look of my black matte InCase Slider, but it has started to peel after a couple months of use. My old Black 3G was also scratched to hell in the back from the case?!?

Ok, took it back and exchanged it. The new one (still kept the color black) fitted like a damn glove. Nice and snug, no gaps between the 2 pieces. I hope this one doesn't start chipping away the matte material. I think it's it or miss or there are some serious production issues at Incase. Try it on at the store before you leave. If you have to struggle to the the top part (especially) then it doesn't fit and will take kung-fu grip to get it off.

Well it's been a few says with the case and the matte back isn't chipping away. Just thought I post to further stress that it's a good product but it's hit or miss

It won't chip in a few days.

I had mine a few months and I thought I was in the clear. But eventually little parts started falling off.

alright guys. i swapped my white 32gig for a black, and my gunmetal slider for a white.

the white/gunmetal combo was extremely tight. i had to use my fingernails to pull off the bottom part.

the black/white combo is another story. the larger top half is pretty loose when compared to the gunmetal one. loose but not too loose to cause any concern. however, the bottom part is slightly less tight than the gunmetal one.

the funny thing is, when i try to remove the bottom while holding the top, the top part comes off instead of the bottom. lol

this really isn't a concern for me since i dont plan on using a dock and i'm set on leaving this on there for a long time with only periodic cleanings.

Well hopefully that ends up being your only worry....my friend got a black incase slider for his 3g and it trapped alot of dirt and the sliding in out of his case scratched his phone pretty bad. The phone looks pretty awful but he's also not the type to baby his stuff.

I went to the Apple store 2 days ago to purchase an Incase Slider for my black 32GB 3GS. I picked out a black one and when I went to pay for it the woman working asked if this Slider was for a 3G or 3GS. I said 3GS and she suggested a Slider from a different sales rack, but still black in color, said it would fit better. I didn't pay too much attention when it happened, but now wish I would have so I could report to you guys why she did this. My new Slider fits like a glove, maybe Apple knows about this issue?
