Thank you for your inquiry. Our feather case that has just been released is compatible with the Apple Smart Cover, however does reduce the magnetic strength slightly where the Smart Cover clips onto the iPad. It is not primarily designed for the Smart Cover and we will be releasing a new feather case to be custom designed for the Smart Cover. This newer released feather will be released in about 6-8 weeks, as it is still in its early stages of development. We will also be happy to exchange your current feather case for the Smart Cover feather case in the future. On the phone they said free but I emailed about it too... Just so I can get one of their customer service ppl to put it in writing

Just ordered my frost feather case. You can't beat $24.99 with free shipping and two screen protectors.

I've been thinking about this for a while and I think I've decided to do it. Sounds like a good weekend project. I love the case and I think it's stiff enough to handle removing most of the left side. I'll let you all know how it goes.

Approx how much do you need to cut off and what tool do you think would do the trick?

I'm gonna use my exacto knife and not sure about how much to cut off. I have to measure and draw it out first
 
Just received my feather today as well (frost). I really like the look and feel, I'm in the same boat, debating on whether or not to attempt to cut to accommodate the smart cover.

I hope it works. I think I would prefer that cover over the decals I've been looking at.

You guys with your frost color....just put a request in to exchange my black color for the frost. :D Hopefully Incipio can accomodate. I am really liking the semi-transparent color. I'll also keep note of the exchange for the Smart Cover version.

The look and feel of the Feather for iPad 2 is as expected, excellent! Being able to still feel the design of the iPad 2 is what makes it so great. Same thing I felt when I had one for the iPhone 3g/3gs.

did you get free screen protectors too? Case looks great
 
I usually dont like frost either but this one for some reason works in my opinion, it is exactly as someone described, a subtle semi-transparent, its cool. I got the decal from macstyles.com, they are called mac tatts. They have a variety of different ones. I put the headphones on all my stuff (macbook pro, ipad, ipad 2).

I honestly dont know if the case came with screen protectors (I don't really like to use screen protectors, mainly b/c I never put them on right, lol), I got the case last night, put it on and threw the rest of the stuff to the side, I will look when I get home from work tonight. I'm thinking that it did come w/ some protectors though.

Both a matte and a glossy protector came with my order. There wasn't a retail box at all...I think they were just trying to get these out as soon as they could.

The protector quality is okay. I have a Steinheil on order as well which will be better quality.

Ok, I'm TOTALLY with sap12690 when they said the Feather is hard to cut. The huge slice on my ring finger knuckle will attest to that. :rolleyes: But anyway, since I'm going to replace it anyway once a proper one comes out, I didn't really take the time I should have when cutting it. I just scored it up the side and snapped it off once I got the two shorter cuts made. It's not perfect but it works with my Smart Cover now. :D I'm happy with it. I might get the sandpaper out and clean it up. We'll see. Maybe this weekend.

Functionally speaking, it still holds the iPad securely! That was my one worry. As you can see in the picture, there's not much left holding the iPad but it's just fine.

Incipio got back to me saying that I would have to return the first order before they could ship the exchange. It was worth asking... :cool: I was going to just order the frost, but then saw it was sold out. Guess I'll keep black for a while.
