Scan Twice on iPhone 15 Pro max and once on the iPad Pro M1 - all exact same results. S Band 33W

Agree - device matters.

iPhone scan says Medium w/ 21W.
iPad scan says Medium w/ 25W.

Hope Apple store can exchange if needed....

Did you happen to select Zeiss lenses for one but not the other? I was on with Apple Support today about this same thing regarding the same measurements. My 5AM PST groggy iPhone scan set me up with M/M/25W. I ordered it with rx lenses.

I decided to scan again in the afternoon after reading some accounts of differing scans and got 21W twice in a row by adding a new AVP to my cart and going through the selections. Since I wanted to get through quickly to see the measurements, I selected no glasses / no contacts / no vision issues so it didn't recommend Zeiss inserts. I got M/M/21W twice in a row.

When I reached out to Apple they said a device ordered with Zeiss inserts selected will change the Light Seal size. For pure speculation I'm gonna say the Light Seal numbers are millimeters distance to lens. I'm a 21W, but they go +4 to accommodate the lens without my eye being too close to it, so they call it 25W with Zeiss lenses. I did the scan again selecting the lenses and got 25W.

Good point!
Yes, aware of the Zeiss lenses affecting size of the light seals.

Did not select lenses for both device measurement scans.

Strange that the iPhone scan vs iPad scan would give different light seals without lens correction.

I hope the Apple store will be able to exchange pieces if the fit is not right.

At least within the first 2 weeks of receiving it we should....

Does anyone know if during pickup it doesn't fit correctly, they will swap out the light seal for one that does?

i got size M for my bands, but the light seal, I got a 21W. but now doing the scan post-purchase, I am consistently getting 33W in different rooms, different lighting etc.
I got the same thing and am concerned now. 21W seems like a big difference from 33W. I did get the small band every time that I did a scan.

I wasn’t thinking and did my scan with my eyeglasses on. Does that even make a difference? I got 33W with glasses on and now without my glasses on I got 21W and 23W. Goodness! I did get a S headband for each one.

I tried multiple times with a smaller head and got an S size and 21W. I scanned 4-5 times and got the same size. Weirdly, though, if I go on the Apple Store page and do a light seal scan for "someone else," it gives me 25w, and that's the only place/time it does that. I feel confident in my 21W haha
This exact same thing happened to me. Glad I ended up choosing in-store pick up in hopes of getting the fit right the first time.

Done the scan many times, mostly get medium bands with the light seal being mostly being 25 sometimes 23. Once in a blue moon I would get a small band but highly doubt that's accurate. Got it for home delivery on feb 2nd with the prescription lenses, hopefully the fit is accurate and if not we will be able to swap out the bands for different sizes at the Apple Store. I wonder if they do let us exchange sizes, would we need to bring the whole device in or just the bands.

Million dollar question!! Will be very curious how accurate these face scannings are.

I went through three times after reading this post, first time small, second time medium, third time small. I think it probably means it’s both inexact and also maybe you’re near the borderline. You should pick up your preorder in store and try it on with them, and if it’s uncomfortable then exchange it. That’s what I would do. Looks like pre-order dates are slipping for the 256GB one (I noted a not available for pickup after I started repeating the process to test the sizing.
Exactly. I’m picking mine up in the store so I can have Apple make sure it fits and swap out the light seal on the spot if there’s an issue.

Have folks gone back and swapped out their light seals due to comfort/ fit issues? I can’t seem to get comfortable with the 35W that I received.
