Sorry for reviving an old thread but it may help others who are still suffering from long shutdowns in Lion. I have 2 MACpros a 2010 Hexacore with no shutdown problem and a 2007 Octocore with long shutdown problems, ever since upgrading from SL. There were 2 culprits; 1st my HP's (Officejet L7780) print drivers, which was carried along from SL and the 2nd one was CSmanagerservice from CS6 suite. The HP problem easily was solved by uninstalling and re-installing the drivers but, the CS is a work in progress. I can kill the process manually from Activity Monitor or wait 25 seconds for it to shut down. Well I mostly use sleep mode so, in reality it is a non-issue but I'll like to find the solution.
