Yyyyyeah, no. It's for "internet" from the first iMac. Could be wrong, but pretty sure it wasn't Bono.

Partly also due to the "interim" CEO that Jobs was at the time also. He didn't come back as full time CEO initially. Hence, the first iAppleism, was iCEO.

No matter how hungry you are, it's talent that rules at the end of the day. This guy has it. Great choice for a senior hire.

Not surprised that the usuals here are trying to find the gray cloud.

not a 'gray cloud'
it just takes a while to get used to apple adopting a more usual corporate identity
everyone knows that what theyre doing is technically the most efficient thing to do
that's why they hired grown ups to replace the homegrown steve jobs back in the day

im not saying doom and gloom, no not at all, but secretly kind of hoping for another young steve jobs to emerge

Man Utd still has far more homegrown talent than any of the other top English clubs.

And Apple shouldn't keep around any Tom Cleverleys or Danny Welbecks in their ID group, either. The game is far too competitive to keep average talent for sentimental reasons.

danny welbeck will do well in arsenal. just watch.

"You discover that very few people have the level of perfection we do. It is actually very sick. It is neurotic."

So thick antenna breaks and protruding camera lenses are a result of neurotic perfectionism? Well they'd better lock me up because I must be ******* crazy, those things really annoy me already and the phone isn't even out yet...

AWFUL!

Has anyone seen his designs? He's like a mentally challenged Tim Burton in terms of vision.

I hope he doesn't have any say in the design of future Apple products. This is going to be the biggest design hire fumble since BMW took on Chris Bangle.

2-5 years of Newson'd devices.

The hipsters will love this, but not the general public.

I hope he hasn't had any influence on the iWatch. His watch designs are especially hideous, and absurd in terms of ergonomics with the convex backing.

looking at the things he has designed he is too "modern" for my taste
the equivalent of colours splashed on a canvas called a painting

This is his watch company.

If you fancy one they cost between $14,000 - $70,000.

They come highly recommended. ;)

Cheers Olly...

I like the multi dial chronograph design, a nice solid design like it's made from stone or something. But also like the amount of Swiss horologist hand crafted workmanship in the device too.....

I cannot see Apple copying that kind of quality using hundreds of assembly line workers and machines. But we will see.

So far I'm loving the LG G Watch R design. Apparently the Moto 360 is already sold out.

This will be an insane collaboration. Love Newsons work. But if you look close enough, Ive is giving Newson the 'subliminal bird' in the photo as to say, "I'm still the boss". HA!
This is great news and I love what Apple is doing. Exciting!!!

If this is what the iwatch ends up looking like, I am dumping my Apple stock

I strongly dislike the idea of simply assimilating a bunch of talent from other areas as well, but at the same time, this is a wholly different era for creative people, things are not the same as they used to be. Companies such as Apple helped open the door for such things to happen, and in another time, perhaps a Marc would have started and ended with Apple, but this is the way it is now. The key for me would be that they are very part of "Apple religion", and don't come in to overturn EVERYTHING.

No wonder Apple are building a new campus, will need the extra room for the additional ego.

Newson hasn't been knighted like Johnny, right?

But what I can't understand is arriving at products that are easy to scratch. I thought form followed function. If that was truly the situation, we'd be carrying phones that don't need cases. iPhones and iPods have always need cases, unless a buyer is okay with hundreds of trace scratches on the plastic and the aluminum parts. Or the buyer uses the phone on a leather bound desktop in a plush, carpeted office. Me, I'm balancing the phone between shoulder and ear while writing notes on a pad while standing on a concrete sidewalk.

ummm...the flame surfacing that Bangle brought is the most influential auto design language that came out of the 2000s.

everybody copied it because it was so good.

to me, the back of the 7 series was unique and cool. took a while getting used to, but so does everything that's cutting edge.

Now it's everywhere.

by the way... do you actually follow automotive design? he's been there for like 2 decades. perhaps even more.. so he was around even before the e65 debacle
