We’re excited to announce that Infuse 8.2 is available today, bringing a host of powerful new features to iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac, and Vision!

Multiple user profiles

The ability to use separate profiles is now available on Apple TV! With Infuse, each family member can enjoy a personalized setup—complete with custom home screen layouts, network shares, watched history, ratings, parental controls, and Trakt accounts. Profiles can also be linked to individual iCloud accounts, making it easier than ever to keep things in sync across devices. Learn more

Note: tvOS 26 (pictured below), arriving this fall, introduces a streamlined experience with an optional profile selection prompt that appears whenever Apple TV wakes from sleep. Manual profile switching, available in tvOS 18, will remain supported in tvOS 26 as well.

Stream from iCloud Drive

In addition to browsing and playing files downloaded from iCloud, Infuse now also supports streaming directly from iCloud—allowing you to play videos without using local storage on your device. Of course, the option to download files for offline playback is still available.

Note: Apple currently does not allow browsing iCloud Drive files on Apple TV. However, direct links to iCloud Drive files can be added to the ‘Links’ section in Infuse, and these links will be accessible on other devices—including Apple TV. Learn more

Metacritic ratings

Alongside TMDB and Trakt, Infuse now offers ratings from Metacritic for movies and TV shows. This rating (Metascore) is a single score that represents the critical consensus curated from a diverse group of highly respected critics. This added perspective can offer helpful insight when choosing the perfect title for movie night. Metacritic ratings are available for all PRO users.

Enhanced AI video upscaling

An expanded set of AI upscaling features is now available, including limited support for current Apple TV 4K models. Infuse leverages Apple’s hardware to deliver sharper, clearer images when playing lower-resolution videos on larger screens. Capabilities vary depending on the device, with the full suite of features requiring an A16 chip or newer. As a result, Apple TV users can expect even greater improvements with the next-generation model—potentially arriving as soon as this year.

Wow! Big surprise!

How will profile support work with family sharing? My kids have access to Infuse and is fine on their iPads but when selecting restore in the "upgrade to Infuse Pro" on the ATV on one of the child accounts it doesn't appear that Pro is active...

It should work similarly to other devices. You may check to ensure the correct App Store Apple ID is set up for each user in the Apple TV Users section. This guide also has a few hints which may help.

Interesting! On the upscaling example you show, what is the resolution of the original and which Apple device was used for it? This could get me to upgrade when the new model TV comes out.

Right now, the best results are visible on other more powerful devices (such as iPad Pro or Apple Silicon Mac). All videos will see an improvement, but the biggest jump seems to be with 720p. The image posted above compares Infuse's upscaling to how some other apps handle upscaling. The change from the previous version of Infuse will be a little less dramatic, but still noticeable.

It will be interesting to see the actual results once the new Apple TV is released as this will be far and away the largest screen size for most people and the upscaling approach can certainly play a very large factor in the viewing experience.

How does the new profile system works with Plex?
If you have separate Plex logins these can be linked to individual Apple profiles in 8.2. We're also planning to look into adding support for Plex Home users.

In my case I have a server with Plex and a few Plex home users, then I understand that I will have to wait for a future version that switches Apple TV users at the same time that switches de Plex user?
