I'm a 74 year old disabled senior. I've been an Apple user since my Apple IIe. I pretty much live on my SS check each month. I've been saving for a long time to reach about $800 for a decent Windows laptop. Then comes the Neo! I have $600 saved up and I ordered a 256 Indigo. I'm so happy! I'm going to get a budget Mac and it isn't junk! I wasn't looking forward to using Windows and now I don't have to.
Please share your thoughts with us.

Looking forward to listen to you.

How are they keys being lighter color? This reminds me of the iPad white vs black. How does it do with yellow Cheetos?

I bought one - have a Mac Mini M4 and Air M4 15" but this can be chucked in my backpack, was always a fan of netbooks back in the day and the iPad never really replaced that for me

Went for the Indigo 512GB as I'm lucky enough to get education discount

I literally chucked it in my backpack already in the sense that the whole boxed package literally just about fit into my backpack!

I checked it last night at the Apple store, it is such an amazing mac... I love it so much and I wish i needed it
In my opinion, the subject of Apple tools and toys is rarely about actual need and more so a matter of desire. If you can afford the Neo and believe you would have occasion to make use, I see no harm in making a purchase. At the very least you could give it a go during the return period.

Well the lastest machine runs the latest OS.
As soon as you connect to a network during setup, the OS will do an update.

Is the antireflective coating of the Macbook Neo the same as the MacBook Air ?

Some sites say it has no antirereflective coating, but Apple press release says it has one 🤔

I just saw it in the Apple Store. I’m going to trade my iPad Pro M4 for it. I need a real laptop for my online courses.
That is a big trade in. It has been an exciting several months between the Air and the Neo. Which color are you getting? Are you getting the upgrade?

Silver, so it can matches my iPhone 17 pro max in silver.
I really like the fact that there’s no notch and the bezels looks like my 11inch iPad Pro so it’s not a problem.

Some YouTubers said there was no automatic brightness on the Neo, but it's the opposite!

If some YouTubers said that, they either didn't open settings and look, or they made it up to bash the Neo.

Do you have Xcode’s predictive code completion activated? This feature says it needs a minimum of 16GB RAM. Not sure if Xcode would activate it on a Neo due to <16GB RAM but it’s worth a look.

It’s in Xcode’s settings menu, under Components. You have to click the circled “I” icon to see if it’s enabled or not.
I did have it on, but not sure if turning that off alone can fight the inevitable limitation of 8 GB for this use case (completely understandable). Swift Playgrounds works flawlessly which is really nice to see, but I typically work with Xcode projects, and in a standard empty Xcode project even booting up a simulator takes a considerable amount of time as the machine tries to allocate what it needs for it (also understandable). Ideally this machine would complement a Mac mini that would be used for more demanding coding tasks but I’m ok if it doesn’t work out. It truly does handle things much better than I expected though.

How hard do you have to press?
Comparing to my M1 Pro where the intensity is set to light, you don’t have to press much harder, but the travel is much further.
It feels kinda off but honestly, as best as a mechanical trackpad can feel. And comparing it to Windows Laptops in the same preview bracket it is outstanding.
