So got an email today inviting me to a free 3 months trial for the creator suite, so Apple must feel confident that those apps run week enough and not "ruin" the experience, that's at least my thought.

I'm debating to install Word and Excel, I have the MS 365 license but I do pretty much all my docs on my Mac Studio.

But then I am really contemplating to install LRC, I'd use it when I'm travelling with my camera. I just don't want to deal with the Photos app. I'd then probably import a few hundred RAW files to just see what happens. When I import photos (in the hundreds or more) on my Mac Studio, it uses all cores and I usually just let it sit for 10 min or so and do its thing. Installing LRC would be a real life test for me

Remember the Creator Suite also includes Pages, Keynote and Numbers. Microsoft 365 should run just fine.

Yea, I know, just I don't need any "fancy" functionality anymore, the only reason I have 365 is for my wife. When you're retired, excel formulas and functions don't mean that much anymore 😉
A few months ago, before my 365 subscription was up for renewal, I loaded some of my tracking sheets into umbers, content was there but the formatting, well, looked ugly, couldn't be bothered at the time to learn about Numbers to correct that, I've used Excel since version 1.0, and also Lotus 1-2-3

Got the Blush setup with Tailscale, Screen 5 and Jump Desktop. That way I can either remote in to or from to access, transfer, or download files, Plex, or shut down, update mainly when I am not home although I make use sometimes while at home for other Macs etc. I really like the smaller 13" screen. I need to decide if I am going to keep the other Neo. If I do, I am probably going to exchange it for the Silver model.

So no love anymore for citrus? That's ok of course, I'll keep mine 😉

I think if it were more Yellow that would suit me better. I don't hate it but, at the same time, it's not a color that 'wows' me like the Blush. I may change my mind over the next several days and decide to return and not exchange. I am going to make sure I don't rush my decision either way.

Glad to see you really like the Citrus color. It seems to be really popular thus far.

Honestly, I have seen the other colors in person so who knows, I do know that I never liked midnight And a silver one, nah, had that kinda color for decades 😉. And honestly can't be bothered to do a 2 hr round trip just to check out colors, I'm happy with what I got. I'd I would "hate" it, different story...
After all a computer is a tool and m looking forward using the Neo as such.

I use Jump Desktop on my Studio Mac, 12" rMB and M2 MBA to remote into a Mac Mini that my mom uses.

I can not get the mobile app to work on my iPhone - have you had success ???

I can't connect with my phone, either. Before this last update, I was able to. iPads and Neos are no problem. Screens 5 works.

I finally got to the Apple Store today and hands-on compared the smaller laptops (personally I prefer the larger sizes). My conclusions:
• The Neo is well done and will sell very well at its price points. Kudos to Apple for making such a good entry-level laptop. 8 GB RAM is however very limiting in 2026, and will shorten the life cycle for many.
• The 13" MBA is the sweet spot, a far better device, worth +$400.
* The 14" MBP is much better still, well worth the 13 ounces of extra weight for those that can handle the cost.

I wonder why Apple does not make a 12" laptop? My gut feeling is that a 12" MBA might be very well received.

Just my $0.02.

Thanks for checking.

It's strange, when I got the iPhone 17 Air - the mobile app stopped working.

Went back and forth with Jump to no avail.

So I have only been using it from my Macs which is a little inconvenient....

I'm gonna make people crazy by mentioning this, but the screen does exhibit jelly scrolling a lil bit.

Fairly obvious when black text on a white background. At the price I get it. I think the screen is great overall, but this is a little "iPad from a decade ago" throwback. I don't notice it in forums etc.

I have AppleCare One but my AW Ultra, iPhone Air and M4 iPad Pro are already on it. Don't really think it's worth it to add this $500 machine. **knock on wood** I'll probably shatter the screen tonight now.
The AW Ultra is indestructible as far as I can tell after abusing an AWU1 since the day it was released. I would put any laptop on AppleCare One instead of the AWU.

Visisted 2 electronics stores today, not Apple stores but they both have dedicated “islands” for Apple products. Both had a Neo and both were Citrus, which was to be expected.

Build quality … very nice but the Citrus is just not for me. I think that color is going to get really old really fast.

I closed all the apps that were open, relaunched Safari and loaded 4 tabs with decent sites like this one, arstechnica, etc. Had a look at Activity Monitor and it showed 6gb in use. That wasn’t after a clean reboot so unsure what to make of that.

I’m still in doubt about getting one. It would be nice to do some work in the evening. A minimal setup for Laravel development (php/mysql as services, PHPStorm, Safari and Sequel Ace)

If anyone here runs similar apps on an 8gb MacBook Air M1 ... any feedback would be appreciated.

Few thoughts after a few days (512GB version)...Exchanged from the indigo to the silver. Definitely like the silver better with its clean look, the white keys which are easier to see. I don't use it for anything pressing. Usually gonna be used for browsing, media consumption. I have one safari window opened about 2/3 across with another window taking up the other side...so I'm usually multitasking on it in a sense. (I put it on More Space in Display)

I also adjusted the color temp making it a little warmer by keeping it in night shift mode. Speakers are fine...if you cup your hands underneath it where they are, it fires up the sound towards you nicely.

With edu discount and doing monthly Apple payments, it's $50/month for a year. Bargain for what it is.
