That's me! I've got a 70 SPriest ready to go when WOTLK is released. Haven't played in about 3 months but I am ready to get back into it. Only thing standing between me and Wrath is an exam and 10 page research paper :(

Heh, I always recommend skipping video games if you are in college, but it seems that most MMO gamers are in college. LOL

it's never too late. especially with the new death knight class. oohhhhhh yeah. edit woops. you cant make a death knight till you have a level 55 character.

well from what it looks like there is not too much new that you can use. other then a new job and change in dance and hair. but i have not read too much into it. i say buy it and start.

This new expansion doesn't really do anything for under 70 chars so, you probably shouldn't even bother with WotLK yet. Just get the WoW Warchest.

Not even a new pet with the collector's edition? :(

I know the original and TBC collectors you get pets.

The original is like $1,000 on ebay. But the TBC you can still get it at a reasonable price.

They should reprint the original collectors, if anything in a different pet and books so it retains the original's value, but it's really hard to get a collectors if you don't want to pay an arm and a leg for it.

Thanks for the link. I just have to get my first toon over to outland.

I've got a 61.5 Pally and have been finishing up some quests in Slithus and Plaguelands. Do any of our experienced players suggest I just blow off these two mentioned areas and head over to Outlands? Thanks!

For some curious reason, last night when I tried to log on to the Dalaran server, I was only 1065 in line to get in. ;)

If I have never played WoW before would it still be worth it to start off now? Or am I too late to the game?

I'd say you are not too late. My experience getting back into the game after about 3 years off was that on my server, Dalaran, there are many lower level toons running around and I have run probably 4 instances in the last month. So there are people around ready to play.

I'm not sure if you are familiar but WoW is very level specific. I view instances as 1) an opportunity to pick up A LOT of XP in a short period of time and 2) to get the rewards that the Bosses drop. There was a point back at the start of the game where a high level character could walk you through a low level instance, and you, the low level player would still get decent XP. But I remember there was a patch where in this situation the low level player's XP was not so good, maybe 100 XP per kill. Now what's it like now? I have not verified. But I tend to resist allowing a high level player walk my party through an instance, because there is no challenge and hence not that much fun. Now if the goal is just to get the drops, then it still works ok. Any opinions?

If you are 61.5, blow off your remaining quest and head to Outlands (Hellfire peninsula) . Then run Ramparts (a fun short instance) and Blood Furnace until you get your rep up to honored before questing. Then do all the Hellfire quest and you should be up to level 63 or 64 with close to a revered reputation.

I'm not doubting you but can you tell me how an honored rep will assist in questing (so I know)? I know in other parts of WoW rep does matter. :)

Death Knights are SO MUCH FUN
Agree on this one. But one of the main reasons why the que's are so long. At least on HellScream and Scarlet Crusade last night. I have never been in a que before last night. I guess a lot of interest in the Death Knight is all the rage. But we will see how long the interest stays. I have a feeling and shared on some other forums that the fad will fade away and the que's will get shorter and/or go away completely..

Bill....:apple:

In tBC, the different factions have quartermasters that sell recipes and blue / purple equipment (only you can use the stuff bought at the quartermasters). I'm not sure what crafting professions you have but the recipes the quartermasters sell are generally the only way to advance your crafting. You also need honored rep (very easy to get) with a faction in order to get a key that allows you to enter that faction's instance on a heroic setting.

Note - 5 person instances will give you lots of rep until you hit honored. Quest will always give you rep no matter what your rep currently is which is why you want to hit honored in instances first. The starting zone (Hellfire Peninsula) is particularly bad in that only the shattered halls instance (5 person level 70 pretty difficult even on normal settings) will give you reputation after you hit honored. This generally means that you will stop getting hellfire rep once you have finished questing until you hit level 70.

Note 2 - Check with your Hellfire quartermaster to see if he has anything you need / want and what rep it requires. If you only need honored rep, the quest alone should get you there along with a few instance runs and don't worry about hitting honored doing instances before questing.

A list of the different factions and what the quartermasters sell is here.

The 5 major factions are Hellfire Peninsula, Cenarion Expedition, Lower City, Keepers of Time, and the Sha'tar

I don't think I will ever make an alt, but the DK are so compelling and the fact that they start at 55 make it very compelling.

Also, an Expansion evens everyone out. Hardcore players would want to believe that their "Tier X" armor will make them still the most powerful for the next few months still, but in reality, they are practically immediately nerfed when the game starts.

In "Arena PVP", equipment and experience plays a pretty good role. Elsewhere, it's more about numbers of players versus each other. Being "rich" helps a bit because you can afford more potions / permanent and temporary enhancements, etc. however.

Of course if you want to do mostly PVE, it doesn't really matter how others are compared to you. Only thing is that older players already have done 1-70 with a few characters and can start end-game raiding earlier. But leveling is boosted for pre-WOTLK areas.

The thing that makes WoW so successful is that it is friendly to both casual and hardcore players. You don't have to be "top dogs" to enjoy the game. Blizzard makes a decent effort to balance everything. But one problem is that there are often more "Alliance" than "Horde", because most kids like to play "pretty" characters rather than "ugly" Horde. So there are a whole bunch of little kids on Alliance side. You can tell too, when you play characters on both sides and interact with the community.

I thought there was the new professions.

You can do this without the Expansion?

Ans do you get character customizations?

yes inscription was added in the last patch.

OIC. It says this though...

Will I be able to make inscriptions without purchasing the Wrath of the Lich King expansion?

Players who own The Burning Crusade Expansion will be able to level Inscription to level 375 along with the other tradeskills to 375. Players with Wrath of the Lich King will be able to level it all the way to 450. This is expected to go live sometime in late September or early October.

Well, all of the Grand Master (375-450 skill) trainers are in Northrend anyway.

My experience is that the outlands quests will provide better xp and better rewards. Those first handful of quest rewards you get are vastly better gear than you are likely to have from just lvling. I would just go onto Outlands and enjoy the content and rewards out there.

Apparently, WotLK is the same situation for lvl 68's. I checked out the rewards for the first quests and the gear is at least as good as S2 arena gear.
