I bet you wouldn't say that about a company that started in the UK though. :D We both have pride in our respective countries, admit it.

When our most well known multinational at the moment is BP, you might want to rethink that comment. ;)

Apparently, the reason this is such a big store in terms of floor space, is that the building is Apple's new European Retail HQ. It just happens to use two floors for a retail location as well.

Wow. In that case their employees must be over the moon about the location. Makes you feel sorry for all the poor non-retail saps out in that business park near Heathrow :D

We visited Lindauer's place when we were there a while back, but couldn't get hold of any Rosé: it seems they only produce it for export.

All the good products are exported, actual New Zealanders get the stuff not worth of exporting.

Same for farm products... and we get charged twice as much for the same prodcut. (Please tell me how that logic works)

Magnificent store

I have over 100 photos of the new store in case anyone wants to see them:

:)

My first impression of the new store is that it is simply gorgeous. Love the fact that the bricks are visible all over the store - not a fan of glass and steel buildings at all. All the products are nicely presented and there are plenty more demo units on the tables than at the Regent Street branch. Far more seats too.

It is less than 30 seconds away by foot from Covent Garden station - directly next to the market.

Videos

I have put up five videos (HD videos - just switch to 720p mode to watch in HD if you have a fast connection). Hope you guys enjoy them. Grace, this might help you a bit. :)

When I was right in front of the queue - the Apple staff hyped things up and the high fiving began:

Non-stop footage (part one), showing you inside the store. I made this 20 minutes after the store opened:

Part two, non-stop footage, taking a tour inside:

The top floor (two floors above the ground floor) where they sell accessories and have the briefing room:

Further tour, showing the ground floor, basement and life outside on Covent Garden:

Enjoy!

I was there at lunchtime. It really is a great looking store. There's so much room it didn't feel jam-packed like Regent Street always does.

Antennagate had done nothing to quell demand for the iPhone 4, incidentally, the separate queue for potential iPhone 4 purchasers outside the store was extremely healthy.

Good videos.

I am going to apply for the job those guys were doing, frantically and constantly cleaning the glass panels all the while you were filming.

Job for life, with overtime! Recession or no recession! :D

Thanks! :) I think many people would happily work as a cleaner in a beautiful building like that one. The atmosphere inside is delightful. :D
