Looks fantastic. I'll pop down to Covent Garden tomorrow if I can get anywhere near (the girlfriend will be working so I've got a window :)). I like Covent Garden a lot.

Only problem is that this is going to make an already very crowded and touristy area even more crowded and touristy...

They're giving out free t-shirts for the first 4000 people through the door so they must be expecting quite a few people!!!:eek:

Never been one for a store opening, but I have to get myself there tomorrow morning!!! I'll be on the first train from East Croydon to Charing X and waiting ha ha, I sound like such a geek, but very good excuse for me to purchase the new iLife :D:D

It's not Brits' and Aussies' fault that in the USA they only have teeny-tiny stores made to accommodate one midget customer at a time :D

Shelves stocked with a gazillion iP4s and we have to wait 2 weeks to get an iP4 here. Smart.

What the heck a guy has to do for Apple to open an Apple Store? We only have Premium Resellers Stores, not an original Apple Store.

My 2 emails for uncle Steve are unanswered....lolol

Even though it's a small country i also think that we deserve one.

You guys don't even make the podium.

1. Covent Garden, UK
2. Regent St, UK
3. George St, Sydney, Australia
We'll be alright in NYC. We only have 4 stores :D.

That's another funny thing. With the opening of Covent Garden London now has the following:-

1) Covent Garden
2) Regent Street
3) White City
4) Brent Cross

and just outside the city

5) Kingston-upon-Thames
6) Lakeside
7) Bluwater

So does that mean we beat you on the number of Apple Stores too? :D

Love the look of the store, but I don't know, those tables dont seem to fit in.

Apple just don't have the attention to detail they used to :D

And.. err.. does it matter which country or cities has more applestores? I mean I would love one in my town but we are pretty lucky just to get a primark, so...

If it helps you sleep at night, sure.

I was considering comparing the two cities, but I don't think I even have to go there.

O come on guys; both cities are incredible if you like the city feel. There is no way that one could argue that NY is better than London or vice versa without an insurmountable level of subjectivity creeping in. The list of features, attractions, facilities, etc would make for the longest thread this forum has ever seen.

As for which has the best Apple stores, well that has to be London ;)

Alas for us Brits, NY has the most iconic by a country mile.

Give me a shop next door with a metal front and 1 guy at a desk selling iPad's in brown cardboard box's for £10 less and I'd not even look at the new Apple store.

Al I can think off if how much cheaper their products might be if they did not waste money on fancy gimmics.

Sorry.

It's like buying Levi's for £20 from a normal store or £40 from a fancy chrome and glass levi only store.

I get home, I've got the same item, but paid twice as much.

Well that just shows you haven't been an Apple customer very long or even one at all for that matter. Years before their stores were even thought of, Apple has charged a high premium for their products. Even more so back the day they costed a lot more than they do today and were well worth it. If anything their prices have become a lot more reasonable over the years and the stores are probably the reason why. They draw a lot of people into those fancy stores and people walk out with Apple products.

Your logic fails anyway, many mom and pop stores charge full retail, or if not, they charge over MSRP especially if they are the only retailer nearby with the product you're looking for. Fancier stores don't always equate to inflated prices.

Shame for the Americans lol. Seem to be having trouble with themselves because they don't have the biggest apple store in the world lol.

I wonder if the entire 5th ave store would fit In there...?

I've been to 5th ave and to be honest I thought it wasn't that interesting. Only thing special is the glass cube...

The Covent garden store looks 1000x times better in my opinion. Such a beautiful building.

But I like my own little apple store here in Scotland the best :)

Yes, don't you know we Americans have to have the biggest, best, most powerful things in the world? F, I love the USA!

When £1 = $2. I headed to the NYC store ;)

Can this guy look more of a Douche bag with a rock personality and movement of a black person that walks around without any accomplishments in life?

Am I one of the few that don't like the look? All the glass and modern Apple design touches don't mesh well with the brick building IMO.

I also think the largest Apple store in the world should be in the USA not the UK.

Haha. Contrast is key in design, so it works for me.

We pay more for apple goodies so it's only fair we have the biggest store!

You could do a lot worse than escape Croydon for the day. The High Street is murder during the school holidays. Actually it's bad every day. All the chavs shopping in Primark or hanging outside McDonald's aimlessly. Wish I didn't live there myself!

Umm, doesn't Westfield in Shepherd's Bush now have an Apple Store, as well?

My thoughts exactly. TfL warns against using Covent Garden st due to the crowds. It's unbearable in the weekends during summer. Unless there are any great deals on offer, I will not make my way to this new store in a long time.
