You deserve it stupid sheep.

- NOW let's say I wanna do the sheep and buy a MBP while I live in France/Germany/Italy/Spain:

A 13" entry laptop (2,4Ghz & 250go) costs 1.150€ = 1.555$, the price of a 13" with 2,66 GHz & 320go...not cool but...

A 15" entry laptop (2,4Ghz i5 & 320go) costs 1.750€ which is 2.467 ****ing $$ !!! The price of a ****ing high end 17" with 2,66ghz i7 & 500go knowing that in Europe the Buying Power is lower than in the US/CA, and these are time of crisis !!!!

WHAT THE EFF APPLE ??!!

I love Apple stuff. I mean obsessively. But...

I'm willing to pay a few hundred more for and Apple, but not almost double. Shoot, that Dell has bluray too! What gives. Where is the Apple laptop with a 15 inch display and slower i3 internals? Most programs can't even enjoy all that speed but a user sure could enjoy a larger display.

Usually, once you spec out a PC laptop it gets within a few hundred dolors of the comparable Apple laptop. But this time the PC out-specs it for cheaper. A Dell Studio 15 with i5, 4GB RAM, 500GB 7200 RPM HD, with the maxed out video card(1GB RAM), 1080p display, and backlit keyboard. $1284. Apple could at least make the 500GB 7200 RPM drive standard in the 15. But no Apple is charging $2049. Now you get a thinner case and slightly better display (hard to tell tho). Does that really cost $768. With $768 I could buy a 13" Dell laptop i3 as well.

I would never buy a PC laptop, but it's getting harder. The 15" MBP should have started at $1599 w/500GB HD (they could even get cheap and do the 4200RPM and upgrade to 7200 RPM for $50) ANd I wont even ask for bluray. Uhg! Sorry to rant on but jeez...

Well said - and a cogent argument. Thank you. Not once did you state I was stupid, a retard or dumb - you made a point and defended it. Thank you for a polite and rational post. Unlike many here - you used your head and not emotions to fit your argument.

D

If we were all polite, it would mean we are living in a fascism/totalitarism. And it's because some stupid and naive people are polite that populations are slaughtered in certain parts of the world...but let's stay in the topic....

If instead of s*ck*ng the d*ck of Apple for whateven reason (latecomer, iSheep, hypocrits) everyone understood the easy and bare truth and speaked out about it, I can assure we would have had OS 4 on the Iphone with Flash working, a front-camera on the iPad, and cheaper Macbook Pro a long time ago...

Otherwise: HACKINTOSH ? (ie. PC laptop with a custom hardware but Mac OSX ?)

Apple Rocks !

ohhhhhhh, but, i just ordered my MBP 13" from germany, the apple guys were so cool, even before i asked, they cross checked my address and gave me instant 130 euro educational discount on the final price, which came to 1011 euro !! -- terrific deal anyday :):) ... expected delivery is though 10 days.. but still, chill :D

Luckily for Apple there are people like you who certainly discovered Mac several month ago and don't even know what's an i5 core...

So when does the sting of dropping $2500 on a computer go away??? I don't care. I can't wait for my first Mac to come in!!!!

LOL I love how you included the specs in your signature when it hasn't arrived yet. ;) PC to Mac switcher I'm guessing. Trust me after getting the feel of OS X you won't think twice about the price. After 6 years on DOS and 12 years on Windows 95,98,ME & XP I switch in 2007. Still extremely glad I did.

i understand your grief and many others in this forum who are disappointed, not without reason, but, you have to look at the big picture some times...

i guess it is time to come back to Reality... way too much is being made out of C2D vs i5,i7 anyway... no one knows for sure how they do with heating issues... only future will tell... there is no i5 for now in 13" models, not now, not for forseeble future (if i understand the intel -Nvidia battle, it might be months) ... 10 hr battery life is a wonderful for some of us, who travel a lot and need a light notebook, which still offers good performance...

btw, it is never a bad time to discover anything, let alone Mac :D

This is the kind of BS that makes me consciously agree with future fascism in construction...

I don't care about i5 altough it's obvious that people who order 13" now, are stupid and ignorant. I won't lie: I've had by chance an Ipod since the first generation, but I've only used Mac for 3 years now.

The different is, i'm not stupid and ignorant: I knew the Macbook I bought then was worth it, I was pretty happy with the first and second release of the iPhone, but I know that the iPad and the two last Macbook Pro updates sucks. I'm not a stupid iSheep or newscomer.

-
Then the price: here in Europe, you have to pay 2.467$ for an entry 15" and 3.052$ for an high end 15" !!! That's too ****ing expensive.
If only it was perfectly worth it (blu-ray, mate screen, i5 everywhere, ATI cards, 500HD or cheaper SSDs and...some innovation maybe, since we're talking about Apple...)

Hey, can I please pester you with a question? lol...I just installed OS X 10.6.3 (10D578) on my ThinkPad, and it works great. However, I do not understand how OS X is better than (specifically) Windows 7. I WANT to understand it, though, and yes, I know that I can also run Win 7 on a Mac, which is awesome!

Again, I am NOT here to trash anything or anyone. I want a MacBook Pro 17" WUXGA, and you seem to be the perfect person to ask since you had Windows forever and fell in love with OS X on the spot.

I already love the blue progress bar whenever something is installing. lol...iWork and iLife look and feel great, and I'm already loving Safari on both my ThinkPad (the PC version and, as of yesterday, the Mac version as well lol)...mobile Safari is also my favorite mobile browser on the iPhone.

Anyway, thanks so much! :) I would also truly appreciate anyone else who would like to chime in as to what you love about OS X. :)

For anyone looking to update to the 13" MBP if it suits what you need to do, go for it. I am typing this on my new 13" and it does everything I could ask for any more. The OS is so smooth compared to windows. And as a test, I have opened every single app all at once, without a single slowdown in the computer. I feel like that's incredible out of such a small laptop, although it is the pro model!

Happy buying. I am enjoying my first mac thus far.

That is expensive, but isn't that actually due to a "luxury tax" imposed by your government? You know... to pay for your free medication?

:)

OK, way off topic but here goes.

I like OS X due to the simplicity of its file structure/organization compared to windows. Things seem to run smoother and a tad bit faster than on windows in my experience. Less Compatibility issues. I don't know how familiar you are with Windows registry but its a tangled web. I've had to go in it and remove left over crap that not only software developers own uninstallers leave spread out all over the registry causing conflicts but windows uninstallers too, as well as leftover folders and files spread out in different directories. Removing things like this in windows can be dangerous too due to common association with other programs. Not so with OS X. Delete the app, a preference file (a compact combined version of its keys you'd find in windows registry) and support folder and thats usually it. Maybe a receipt n .bom file in some cases and traces of an app is in MOST cases gone.

Installing in most cases is a simple unzip/rar or .dmg mount, drag&drop and the app can be started. Its more compact. The developers of mac apps follow a guideline of development a little better than most (not all) windows software developers in my opinion.

I like the GUI experience more, seems a but more pleasure to view all day to me than windows. I personally like and get less anoyed using OS X than I do windows. I've never used Vista, its horror stories is what turned me to getting a Mac. I've only had very little experience with Win7 RC1 in virtual machine on my mac. Not enough to honestly speak of it's performance. For me win95 was ok, 98 was 2 steps forward, ME was 3 steps back, XP was 4 steps forward, vista semed to be 3 or 4 steps back, win7 position I can't say. And don' get me started with constantly having monitor the security forums to keep up with security issues. OS X isn't totally in the clear threat wise BUT! ;)

Wether OS X is better than Windows OS is as some would say is of personal Opinion. These are my opinions from my own personal experience over the past 21 years.

BTW, I think flash is OK, but for watching video on youtube and such give me html5 or mp4 in quicktime. I use clicktoflash in safari to watch yotube vids in quicktime mp4 form. And a greasemonkey userscript for it in firefox.

There you have it. This doesn't include everything but just a simple off the top of my head excuse/reason as to why I prefer OS X on Windows. I'm not knocking Windows, Its fine, just not for me anymore.

Dramatic much? Because not being an ***hole on a forum is also apparently the cause of genocide.

Life is long. You'll probably be equally glad when you switch back to Windows :D

hey- someone said that intel may be discontinuing the c2d in june- is that true? does anyone have links or info? Because if so, that would mean that the c2d 13" wouldn't last long.

this is total bs..

I'm still using my powerbook for uni.. I'm a design student and my lil'powerbook sometimes doesnt cut it for running such programs as photoshop and illustrator all at once. Hell it can't even run 3D programs properly..

Like others out there, i obsessively love Apple products. I've used Apple products for more than 6yrs and I'm willing to pay top dollar for it, where in Australia everything like super expensive.

I was originally gonna get this revision MBPs, cause it had the iCores (was also hoping for quads to be introduced) but when they shoved Nvidas graphic cards in, i was like WTF..
Not only this, jacking up the prices by about 100 bucks (AUS) on the 15" MBPs is like INSANE! I'm a bloody student for crying out loud!! We only get discounted by about $120 dollars is Australia... If you do the maths properly we only save about 20 BUCKS!!

This round of revision is just really making me, second guess why i even buy it in the first place...

Think i might as well wait until sandy bridge comes out or when Apple revises the design of the current MBP....

It isn't "better." Look at my profile -- I've been here since 2001. I've owned Macs for a long time, and won't switch to a PC any time soon. But Windows 7 is a much improved OS, and it does a pretty good job of keeping parity with Mac OS right now.

It really comes down to personal preference. I've become accustomed to the Mac experience, and as such, I like it better and feel more comfortable with it. There's not a damn thing wrong with Windows, though.

this is total bs..

Dude, I'm sorry, but you're on crack. What were you expecting? Something unrealistic, it seems. SandyBridge isn't coming out until 2011. This update is what normal people expected, and it's a pretty big boost in performance. You can't clack your heels 3 times and create a magical machine. This is pretty good, and for Apple products, the price isn't nuts. (The clarifying clause in that last sentence is important.)

THe speed is enticing. Run any game out right now? That is just beast. But I prefer consoles.

I'm in need of a new laptop. I've had to order 3rd party parts from Ebay three times in the past 6 months.

But I was hoping for some new features before I jump ship. Especially hdmi.

The Mini Display Port carries a full AV signal right now, and you can get a MDP--HDMI cable. Why doesn't this meet your need?

Where do you see that the Mini-DisplayPort to HDMI adapter carries 8 channel 96 KHz uncompressed 24-bit audio? And TrueHD? And DTS-HD?

Apple's spec sheets don't mention any of this, all I see is:

HDMI output using a third-party Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter
