SocialFocus only works in the browser. You can try the SCInsta mod if you can sign IPAs on your device, if you really need to keep the app. Works beautifully, seamlessly.Still view Instagram and have had an account since before Facebook bought them, but haven't posted since 2023. Checked this on a coworkers iPad and it defaults to Reels... what the, really?
Sadly, I can only use in a browser (on my Mac and with a filtering extension) these days, as Meta really wants to push reels and other influencer crap. I only want to see what my friends post, and nothing else....ever.

SocialFocus: Hide Distractions
Hide distractions on websites such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, LinkedIn, Gmail and take back control of your attention! While we acknowledge the distracting and engrossing nature of these sites, completely blocking them is not always feasible due to the valuable content...apps.apple.com
oh, no thanks.Instagram for iPad focuses on Reels
apple shouldn't allow developers to block their apps from running on it... it should just run all iPad apps. that way we've have Facebook too. so sick of how the reactions barely work on safari.Kinda opening myself up to ridicule with this comment, but I hope they don’t block it from being able to be downloaded on Apple Vision Pro, although they probably will in the same vein as Google is blocking YouTube.
Social media is indeed a hellscape, but it would be nice to at least have the option to surf it inside AVP. Right now, the only native option is TikTok, their largest competitor apparently.
Dammit i hate this. LET ME REVERTTTTT"directly to reels" 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Yeah I mean it took them fifteen years. They probably only used a single engineer on this project so that they wouldn't have to declare bankruptcy.I hope all the resources that they had to devote from their tiny company to finally implement this doesn't hurt their bottom line.
This AND Apple released an iPad calculator a year ago?!! We are truly living in the future.
The Instagram app is expanding to the iPad at long last, with Instagram releasing a dedicated iPad app as of today.

Instagram for iPad focuses on Reels, and when opening the app, it will go directly to the Reels page. Stories will be available at the top of the interface, with support for messaging as well.
There is a dedicated Following tab that provides different filtering options. "All" will display recommended posts and reels from accounts you follow, while "Friends" will show recommended posts from accounts you follow and that follow you back. The "Latest" option will show chronological posts and reels from accounts that you follow.

Instagram for iPad was designed to take advantage of a larger display area, providing access to more features with fewer taps. Instagram says that people can catch up on messages and notifications using layouts that display both tabs at the same time, and when you watch reels, you can expand the comments while the reel stays at full size.
The Instagram app for the iPad is rolling out now, and it is available on iPads that support iPadOS 15.1 and later.

Oh. Wait. If it only lets you scroll your actual feed, and not 'suggested' stuff, I might give it a try after all.It seems sort of crippled...it dumps you into reels and the only post-scrolling option is those who you follow.
Where's the ability to just doom-scroll through all the posts (not just those who you follow)?
So far, disappointing.
Well they surely have a few Apple engineers to work on it now![]()
