MacRumor: Catch up - Moving to Intel processors from PowerPC. Why the transition - want the best computers for end users and we haven't been able to deliver what we wanted. PPC products still to come, future roadmap 2006 and beyond!SP
MacRumor: try and explain how we got here today
MacRumor: Catch up - transition isn't going to be overnight, this time next year plan is to ship macs with intel processors, complete transition by end of 2006.

MacRumor: Intel founded in 1968 by coinventor of integrated circuit
MacRumor: invented first microprocessor
MacRumor: picture of him and steve having dinner together long time ago
MacRumor: Catch up - two major challenges - making OS X think on intel procs. Every release of OS has been compiled for intel x86 for the last 5 years - cross platform by design. All demos up to this point have been done o
MacRumor: connections of intel/apple happened about the same time
MacRumor: didn't quite work out the way Intel had hoped
MacRumor: microprocessor business kept humming along for quite some time

Well I might as well. AMD is screwed in two ways.

1) Intel just gained a ton more business/image.
2) AMD now must fight two fronts. CPU - Intel. Company - Apple.

Great, just freakin' great.

This HAS to be an oxymoron:
world's most innovative chip company have finally teamed up

Innovative? Long ass pipeline? Hot processors? Inefficiency? Bad business practices? I'm already losing respect for Jobs over this. Alot of respect.

I am considering the same for myself...But I am really confused right now. I dont know what to make of all this....just that Mac as we know it is dead and gone.

MacRumor: Catch up - not done yet, will put in dev hands soon. How to make it work with your apps - separate code, xcode will compile for all, cocoa with minor tweeks and a recompile will work without a hitch - can be ready in
MacRumor: binary (one binary works on both PPC and intel)
MacRumor: showing commercial from 1993
MacRumor: toasting the pentium chip commercial

MacRumor: not so subtle message that the pentium needed to run cooler
MacRumor: so happy the world's most innovative computer company and world's most innovative chip company have finally teamed up
MacRumor: Catch up - not every app will be easy to convert, so translate PowerPC code inline into tel - dynamic binary translator. Photoshop plugins for PPC binary translate without a hitch. Developer transition kit - 3.64Ghz P4, for

In business nothing is sacred.

I am torn, but only because my dual 2.3G5 is a month old.
However, I get the feeling that the OS will continually be built on BOTH architectures. Who's to say that, in a year from now, IBM won't have their **** together. If the OS becomes truly processor independent, then it won't matter which chip it has. Of course, that'll bring on the Mac civil war.... lol

I will only say one thing. I have faith in Steve. I have met him in person, and he is one of the most fascinating people I have ever spoken with. Keep in mind, Apple's slide started when He left, and Stopped when he returned. If there is one thing that I know, it is that if Steve does it, then it is sure to be the best thing for Apple Computer.

But seriously, who is going to cough up with 3k for a system that is going to be phased out? I doubt that anyone here is THAT devoted. I am not.

Fsck! No wonder he's wearing black!
This certainly is a black day!

My feelings:

2005 Apple announces Intel macs.

2006 Mac-OS cracked and runs on every PC.

2007 Apple bankrupt.

My trusty old G4 keep the memory of the good old Mac days alive, much like my old Amiga 500 does. :(
