I'd be lying if I said I wasn't bummed about losing bootcamp... I need Windows and for that reason alone it doesn't make sense for us to continue buying M1 Macs. Luckily, Macs tend to last "forever". We just retired a ten year old MBP; it had video card issues and still managed to sell for $200. We are considering our options, but it will probably be replaced by either a discounted or used more modern Intel based Mac, which should easily give us another ten years of use.

Would Windows on ARM running in Parallels be appealing, or do you need the native performance?

It would likely be up to my IT department. It's less that I need performance and more that I need them to be happy with whatever I have running. It's basic stuff, but I would simply like to avoid dealing with multiple laptops if this is at all possible. A work laptop could come at no cost to me, but that's just another thing to have to deal with.

Lol, Intel big mad 😂😂😂

I'm surprised Intel didn't include in their features "will literally burn your junk." Because they do, they get so hot. I have to shift my laptop forward periodically, and this is for basic usage, not rendering.
I often wondered the reason for the fertility crisis portrayed in the near-future distopian novel & TV series "The Handmaid's Tale".

Now we know....it was male infertility caused by boiling Intel processors near the gonads...

Intel does not make laptops though. Those were Apple laptops that caused infertility.

Apple should develop a 5minute Japanese game show on Apple TV of who can last the longest with an intel I9 on their laps.

Even my much older 2012 core i7 MBP scorches the lap and the fans whip up when doing just about anything.

I am looking forward to an AS iMac.

This is bad strategy. Instead of doing this, which invites backlash and reeks of desperation, Intel should say something like they are excited by the competition and promise people that they have great things coming up and that fans won't be disappointed. Something like that.
The problem being that Intel don't have great things in the pipeline, as far as we know... I imagine they're trying to hold on to the high end markets and persuade people not to switch (which might then influence Microsoft not to also change to ARM). I'm already comparing my M1 against a decent discrete GPU, and thinking the Mac mini might be quite a bargain for learning applications. I don't really care much whether I have an ARM or Intel CPU for those applications. Interesting times :) I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with the second generation!

Are you trying to say that fertility improved in the last two months (after release of M1 laptops)? I don't think it works this way.
No I am saying that the PC laptops I have used are worse than Apples Intel MBP

It is Intels fault for the singing gonads, not Apple.

I'm not going back to Windows-based computers. I am happy with Macs. So the only comparison I am interested in are the new Macs versus the older models. And so far, everyone agrees M1 are game changers. Can't wait to buy one!

Yep they are massively better on the whole.
I also wont buy an intel based laptop ever again. Maybe a desktop though ;)
