Sometimes, iThink I'm the only one left that still is OK with Intel...sometimes...
HA HA. Intel is great, even more so if you need to use multiple core applications. Since the intel macbooks are still faster than the m1 at that. The Mjesus is far from AMAZING. yes it does good at battery life, and decent at single core applications, but meh, it's not the second coming of christ.

Who is up in arms? I haven't seen anybody riled up at all.
HA HA HA. thats funny S*&T right there. I don't care who you are, thats funny right there.

I guess you started reading at page ten. Not like you to not be......concise.

how many times have you needed more than 13 hrs of battery life and been away from a power source?

The generator was probably in reference to the fact that Intel processors need a LOT of power; AMD 5800x runs at around 112w peak power while a slower Intel 10700k runs at around 145w and 212w if overclocked to 5.1ghz to compete.

But, on the topic of battery life, since you think that we should be content with needing to recharge; less charge cycles mean the battery will retain it's original capacity in the long run. And since Apple's kind of enough to make batteries almost impossible to swap yourself, this is a REAL problem.

I know it was a joke. I still want to know how many times have people been away from a power source for more than 13 hrs. On either side of the computing coin.

ok, bowing out now since the kool aid has even clouded the thoughts of the intelligent ones here. peace...take care

I will celebrate the day on wich apple moves away from being USB-C online and finally makes their MacBooks "Pro" again.
I will celebrate the day when makers of “pro” devices all universally recognize USBC is better that USB3, FireWire, HDMI, mini USB, micro USB, USB-B and p/s2

Thanks, Intel! Hope this convinces Apple to put USB-A and HDMI back. It’s a pain to run into conference rooms, then I realize I forgot the dongle so I can’t present... it was much easier for me when somebody could hand me a USB key and I didn’t need a dongle to copy the files.

I actually just got a 2018 Mac mini because it has more ports and supports more displays than the M1 Mac mini lol Plus, I also need to be able to run Windows natively or through Parallels for work. I'm hoping that they come out with at least one more Intel MacBook Pro this year with more ports, which has been rumored for this year. However, I could probably deal with switching over to an M series MBP since I wouldn't be using it for work as much as my last laptop.

Intel needs to stop being petty with these ads and maybe actually start innovating again in the chip market. Apple probably wouldn't have been so quick to switch over to their own chips if Intel didn't force Apple to delay product for having so many delays with their chips in the last 5-7 years.

The stupidity of this ad is its lack of whom and which PC product intel is pitching. Everyone of those PC form factors don't perform the same, so to say only pc laptops (with the assumption that ALL pc laptops) with intel inside are built for gamers/gaming, which is completely disingenuous and false!

It would behoove Intel to get its act together, considering their true completion is AMD and now that NVIDIA owns ARM… Apples 7% global pc share is the last thing Intel need to concern themselves with!

A computer in 2021 needs classic fat USB. Everybody uses it daily.

Everybody? I don't - I upgraded to USB-C I don't have a USB-A connector in the house. "Everybody uses it daily" is an absoutely ridiculous statement. The average user doesn't even plug anything into their laptop so it's certainly not everybody. Just buy the right cable, stop being tight and get the far superior double sided, 4x more durable connector and stop whining - it's been 5 years already.

Anecdotally speaking, I plug in my iPad to charge only at night. For the rest of the day, it's with me everywhere I go. To class, in meetings. I like that my iPad Pro has enough battery life to last an entire day of usage and I don't have to worry about it running out of battery in the middle of my lessons. Just last Monday, my meeting lasted from 8 to 3 and my iPad Pro was perfect for referencing documents in split-screen mode. In between messaging friends and doing other misc stuff.

Sure, there are incidences when I return to my desk and have the opportunity to plug it in to charge in between lessons, but it's just nice not to have to do so.

Last year, I had an all-day workshop to attend via Zoom (the 9 to 5 kind) and my MBA easily lasted the whole day. Could I have tethered myself to my desk and kept it plugged in? Sure. But its long battery life meant that I was free to have my workshop at any part of my house. My bed, my kitchen table, the living room sofa, without needing to care about battery life at all. And it's nice that it stayed cool to the touch throughout as well.

I may not need 13 hours of continuous battery usage in a day, but it's nice to have "juice to spare". Especially when you don't always start out each day with your laptop charged to 100%. Or am I the only one who doesn't plug in his laptop every night to charge like I do with my iPhone and Apple Watch?

Just as pathetic as apple with their PC guy at the end of the circle "j$(K" session that was the M1 release. Got to love charts and numbers with no specific information, just "look here at these charts" we got to be better type. Great for the typical apple follower.
Haha good point! I wish Intel took a more wholesome route and did a mini documentary on their 53 year history and achievements instead. Something that would offer people a new perspective and encourage more respect for the company.
