I guess Mac Book is a pretty obvious name and good branding... but if true, the venerable PowerBook name will be missed.

(And as has been said many times, PowerBook did not mean PowerPC, just "power"--the first PowerBooks came long before PowerPC.)

This might help Apple avoid confusion and yet sell both Intel and PPC laptops side-by-side--something I've long expected Apple to do to give us options during this transition.

This is the remote

Well, if we're betting, I'll keep betting on my PalmBook (~7in widescreen, no optical drive, no trackpad - uses touchscreen instead of mouse, one USB 2.0, one FireWire400, 1/8" stereo audio out, S-Video out (no VGA/DVI/miniDVI output)).

This shounds like a possibly remote to me. It would only run FrontRow and interface with an Airport AV. The AV dock would be the hub if you will, communicating with any wireless computer on the network over WiMax or any flavor of 802.11. The in-ports on the remote wold be for moving data off external devises to the network. No need for output ports; thats on the Airport AV. These would be the "one more thing".

Interesting, the iPod radio accessory rumor was true.

Yeah this guy has been very much on the ball up till now (30 mins into the keynote). I still hope his predictions weren't complete and we will still see an intel mac mini or something like it :)

I also hope the macbook won't be black. I really like my brushed metal powerbook. It stands out a lot more than the wintel boxes most of which are also black nowadays.

If they do have a black model, you can pretty much bet on a white model too. Brushed metal would probably depend on whether Apple keep the Consumer/Pro split.

Yeah that's true, all the iPods come in 2 colours too.

BTW, I wish we could see the keynote instead of reading about it :( I read somewhere else that the video won't be released for another 6 to 8 hours after it's finished. That means in the middle of the night over here (Ireland).

iMac intel?

Hey, he did get this wrong (or at least didn't mention it): The intel iMac. From reading all the rumours in the last few weeks that was probably the least common one :)

Did he call a dual core Imac?

Me thinks not. And this beast is much faster than a G5! Holy Intel Batman!!!
Wowwowowowowowowowow! :D

MacBook was true!

So it was true after all.. Amazing! It sounds very cool.

It sounds good too. Now we still have yet to see it.. I'm refreshing the apple site but no news yet :)

Pictures now up on apple store!

http://store.apple.com

I'm very glad that they stuck with the beautiful brushed metal and not the black that was rumored! Yeay!

Edit: Now up on main apple site too!

Not so good in the UK, £1349 15" PowerBook G4 is now a £1779 MacBook!!, guess they want to shift stocks. This price hike is a big turn off especially when you guys in the USA get it for the same price as old model.

Probable reason for the MacBook Pro name, they are still selling PowerBook G4s on the AppleStore!

i wonder where this guy got all his info from? maybe an inside man. but anyway, he left out my favorite announcement. the intel iMac. awesome...
i think i'll have to get one of those iMacs. replace my dual G4 powermac, haha.

So what are people's edugated guesses for an "iBook" release of the intel chip??
