I know, but that’s irrelevant. The rumors where that AMD was working on the graphics for an Intel processor. Naturally the assumption in the media is that it’s the iGPU, but really something like this makes a lot more sense and wasn’t completely unexpected.
I don't think anybody talked about an MCM.

No they didn't, the assumption was of course an iGPU. But if you think about the ways they would implement AMD graphics in the processor it would be done in one of two ways.

I don't think this was obvious. Nobody released a CPU+GPU MCM before.

Like, Yawnsville ....
By the time this gets up & running,
Apple will be well on it's way to fabbing it's own SOCs.
I'm pretty sure it's already "up and running," as there are benchmark leaks out on it already. And what Apple designs and drops into an iPhone or iPad is not even close to comparing to a 45W SOC from AMD or Intel. What Apple has designed has been really good, but desktop-grade CPUs just have more power and flexibility.

Actually, Intel has done this before with Clarksdale, back in the original "Core" desktop CPU. The downside here was that the GPU was an Intel one, and that's when they were really not very good.
