The target market for a MBA doesn’t own, much less care about support for e-GPUs.
Mac mini? iMac? The MacBook Pro? I guess they don’t care for any of those users with support for e-GPU.
And you do understand there is no point in owning a eGPU when the computer doesn’t support it?

Why do you feel the need to give an opinion on a decades old experience that is no longer reality?
I know I’m a week late in responding, but as both a full time software developer who’s spent most of the last decade developing for and using Windows professionally, and as an avid gamer who built his own Windows 10 gaming rig for personal use, I utterly reject your premise that the problems I continue to experience are no longer reality.

Windows handles driver updates, and pretty flawlessly. Everything is compatible with Windows…
A) No, it doesn’t. The situation is a lot better than it used to be, but there’s a reason why nearly every device manufacturer continues to offer their own tool for keeping drivers up to date, and it isn’t just for marketing purposes.

B) Windows compatibility is only half the problem I was talking about when I brought up component compatibility. Build or upgrade a PC and you’ll need to consult QVLs to ensure compatibility between components, despite their use of industry standard protocols and interconnects. It’s not fun checking voltages, mm tolerances of each measurement, thermal profiles, peak power consumption, and the list goes on. Again, it’s way better than it was a few decades ago, but it’s still a mess, particularly when trying to make something that actually has high fit and finish (again, speaking from recent personal experience here).

Maybe you should give Windows 11 a try
Ironically enough, just two days after your post, news broke that Windows 11 “flawlessly” makes things worse for Ryzen users such as myself. Despite supposed compatibility and support, my 2700X-based rig would see significantly worse performance on Windows 11, even more so after the most recent update that made it even worse.

So yes, these issues are still today’s reality.

Intel today shared a new ad titled Breaking the Spell: Social Experiment. In the four-minute video, Intel invites 12 supposed Apple fans to a focus group showcasing features of "upcoming devices" that were, in fact, PCs that are already on the market. The ad was spotted earlier by French website MacGeneration.

The video starts out by saying that many Apple fans only care about Apple products, and Intel attempts to change that viewpoint. The supposed Apple fans are ushered into a room that looks similar to an Apple Store, creating the impression that they are being shown new Apple products, but the devices are actually PCs powered by Intel processors.

According to Intel's Ryan Shrout, the ad features each participant's "real" reactions instead of scripted ones. "It's surprising to see how many people that utilize tech still don't know the capabilities of the PC," he said in a tweet.

The ad is part of Intel's #GoPC marketing campaign that it launched last year after Apple started transitioning to custom Apple Silicon chips in Macs. Intel even recruited former "I'm a Mac" actor Justin Long for some of the ads.

Yeah, interview a bunch of know nothings of course you'll get exitemten. Then after a month the spell of the PC breaks and they are stuck with the reality they are using Window's, what a Hell to be in.

All the major manufacturers have attempted to create their own user sphere. Microsoft,Google, Apple etc. None has achieved total universal application. Apple is is close as it gets. iPhones,iPads and iOS along with iMac, MacBook Mac Mini and macOS.

I really like Apples unified approach. Tying it all together with the new Mxxx chips is really exciting. This was a pretty slick commercial. But it certainly didn’t compel me to go out and have another look at the PC options.

There has been much speculation about new macOS laptops coming down the pipe dropping some features and bringing back some more useful features. This can only be good news.

The future looks bright for Apple. This silly commercial only reinforces that.

lots of people here mention the different OS.. but that's not the actual deal for most people.
it's all the little things that the ecosystem provides that are sorely missed when stepping outside the walled garden.

this is really and Apple and oranges comparison.

Wow, that was bad. Pure desperation. Their main competitor is AMD, yet they focus on portraying Apple users as ignorant stupid hipsters using Hoverboards who have never heard of PCs, and they want to win them over or something? A continuation of a series of ads totally missing the point and their target audience. And why are they meeting in an Apple store with hidden PCs?
