This Ad is really bad. It portraits people that prefer Apple products to Intel as clueless, stupid even.

Most moved to Apple from Intel you know … that happened for some reason. Go and figure that out and fix it rather than believing that people fell in spells and magic.

These guys haven’t learned a thing. So dumb. It makes me want not buy Intel even more.

It’s about reliability and predictability of a platform Mr. That leads to less wasted computing time … A thing that you don’t offer.

People can deride Intel for as much as they want but Intel will still be the biggest player in town because it will be non-Apple intel based computers where people will still get their computer enthusiasm bug from, in my opinion.

Yes... Intel is a HUGE company who sells chips to almost all computer manufacturers. They're not going bankrupt because of Apple's switch to their own M-Series processors.

But if Intel will still be the biggest player in town... why is Intel trying to court Mac users who are a single-digit percentage of computer users? Why bother with these commercials anyway? This is the third or fourth commercial like this.

Intel is obviously worried about something here.

You'd think Intel would be more interested in preventing Windows users from buying PCs with AMD processors inside... rather than focusing on Mac users who are already in the Mac/Apple ecosystem.

Mac users tend to also have iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, AirPods, etc... so adding a Windows PC into the mix is probably not very desirable.

:)

Hey look, slow power hungry CPU’s with security holes in them we hid for 6 months…. Intel ftw, pmsl

Exactly, Apple didn’t build the most valuable company in the world with one of the most valuable brands in the world by simply relying on fanboy loyalty. Apple has reliable easy to use products and an ecosystem that people want. Like you said, competitors need to go figure it out and fix it rather than pretend there is some kind of magic spell. This ad doesn’t seem like a very effective way to draw in new customers.

Obviously, this sucks but if you think this is just a thing that happens on PC's, think again. Stuff like this happens on Macs as well. And it's worse because it's just hardware that is unreliable, not a software issue. After I shut down my Macbook Pro and put it in my backpack, it turns itself on, get's super hot and overheated and drains the full battery. It happens every single time. The only time this does not happen is when I do not shut down the laptop and just close the lid. Somehow sleep mode works fine.

3 other people at my office have the exact same problem. Apparently, it's another sensor that often breaks in the laptop. None of us is getting it fixed because we are tired of sending in the laptops for repair. That would be the third time already and it's a company laptop. 20 laptops purchased, more than half of them had to be sent in for repair for major or minor issues. Had problems with my Dell XPS 13 right from the start as well with a Panel self-refresh issue causing the screen to often freeze. And again a problem that seemed to be common with threads full of people sharing the same issue.

When it comes to hardware, they are all unreliable :)
Hardware issues are understandable as these are all parts sourced from multiple vendors. "Modern Standby" is software based and Microsoft has removed the ability to disable it.

I'm not aware of your sensor issue but I have a Mid-2015 MacBookPro that is still running. There was a battery recall which Apple took care of with no issue. All of their current issues have been due to battery and the keyboard issue.

I like this ad because it is a great reminder of what we should be able to do with such high priced devices and machines. I have a MacBook that feels severely handicapped and can only use it for browsing and coding. YouTube and twitch videos are causing my fans to go nuts while using big sur.
What fans? You think Intel got a processor that goes fanless for youtube or twitch? My MBA does. No fan noise. Because there are none.

They really went all out to fool these people by recreating an Apple Store design environment with furniture and decorations in the room they were in. Down to copying the new plants from Apple stores.

They didn't fool anyone. Those are all "aspiring actors."

Feel sorry for the one brand fanboys that are being forced to buy two devices, a dinosaur clamshell MacBook with no touch nor pen input and an iPad that's gimped by an OS originally for iPods. Getting a Surface Pro 8 to replace both.

Gimmick is nice. Everyone loves it but in the end, it ends up not being used fully.

take Samsung Flip, nice gimmick. Cool to hold and use but crease. old habit would bring most to a phablet format instead of folded one. Time will tell on each individual.

I’ll go for those products, fairly speaking but still would rather have MacOS. Plus Intel consumes power and ruins battery life FAST

I have used a 2-in-1 for years in my school, and I am honestly not a fan of the form factor. Maybe it's an issue specific to the HP Elitex2 (and not representative of said device in general), but the pandemic really laid its limitations bare for everyone to see. Sure, it's thin and light, and perhaps in a normal year, it would have sufficed for the web browsing and document editing that most teachers do, but battery life was never fantastic to begin with, and the combination of its thin form factor and the processor being right underneath the display meant heat dissipation was an issue, resulting in numerous issues of flickering displays and bloated batteries as we increasingly transitioned to zoom.

I am sure there are people for whom said device is a perfect fit for their needs, and I do hope you get good mileage out of your Surface Pro 8, but it's just not for me. Yes, I do need to manage two separate devices, but this also means that each device is free to be the purest expression of their individual form factors. My 11" iPad Pro is especially great for classroom teaching and couch surfing and I have been putting it through its paces the last week preparing screencasts and managing online lessons with my students.

So I sweat a little more lugging an additional device to work, but once there, I am able to use my devices on my terms, without being bogged down by one form factor having to make concessions for the other (eg: a 13" surface pro would also mean a 13" tablet, and I returned my 12.9" iPad Pro precisely because I didn't want a tablet that big).

And with the exception of my 27" iMac, I am happy to report that my M1 MBA is working great (the long battery life is especially handy for letting my tank a day of zoom meetings without having to plug in to charge; the same cannot be said for my AirPods though), and I look forward to the day when I can finally excise all traces of Intel from my house.

So you needn't feel sorry for me. 😊

You are really special. What f-king desktop are we supposed to buy? iMac 16stuck with a GPU less powerful than a GTX 690(2014)
Or 3-4x less powerful than a 1080/2070/3060

A 1k$ Mac mini with a crappy intel iGPU?
Or a 6k$ Mac Pro
Get real man

Apple can “commit” to games all they want. If the publishers don’t see the Mac as significant enough to make games for, they’re not going to. A “poor” selling game on PC is likely to still sell more copies than the entire current Mac gaming userbase.
Takes two to tango. I understand moving your codebase forward with apps, etc... but you can't expect every developer to reprogram their entire game 10-15 year old game because you decided to drop a codebase. 0 reason why our macs can't also support 32bit apps. 0....

There’s tons of cool hardware. But go build a OS and let’s see what you come back with.

"Chevy" is just the shorthand word for the Chevrolet company that was perceived as among the best automobile makers many years ago. Today (and for quite some time) it has been overtaken by Japanese and European makers. The comparison to Intel is similar in the eyes of the original poster, likely supported by many of the posters in this thread.
Thanks a lot.

In my opinion Intel are not worried and the reason they keep on having a go at Apple is so consumers do not get the impression that Apple is better than them.

My reasoning on this is based upon how trademarks are treated. If a companies trademark is used by another company or an individual, it is up to the trademark holder to protect their trademark and if they do not, they can lose their trademark. Intel are acting in a very similar way in my view. If they keep quiet and allow Apple and their supporters to make claims of how good their CPU's are, consumers could view Intel's silence as a form of defeat. Intel making ad's about Apple is their way of protecting Intel's CPU's. If they were to keep quiet, they loose the right to say how good their CPU's are. That's my view on how i see it.

I would like to see this new world order espoused by Apple become more mainstream. A future where nobody builds their own PCs anymore because the performance hit from not using an integrated chipset is simply too great to ignore.

Picture a scenario where the big PC manufacturers each have their own custom silicon and companies selling standalone processors and graphics cards have no place in this new world order.

Either Intel adapts, or they can go join the likes of blackberry and Nokia in the annuls of history.

I can dream…

That’s not a problem. If a game is done for a max you can do some small tweaks. Same way we can still play Mac OS 8 games or older PowerPC equivalent.
But Mac has the worst GPU support on the planet and no sane developer are willing to spend money on a platform that doesn’t want them.
