Looks like I'll be sticking with Quicken Pro for Windows for now, as this thing still doesn't have all the features I need.

worthless Garbage!!!!!!!!

I'm going to keep using Mint.com, it's free and works like a champ.

Swing and a miss!

Walt Mossberg has been too polite and temperate in his comments. The fact you can not convert Windows-based Quicken files to native Mac product is beyond comprehension. There is simply no rational explanation for such a poor product to released to customers after such an inordinately lengthy delay.

What committee of fools could possibly think this is a good product? No ability to edit or enter investment transactions? Huh? Also, why do Windows files not fully convert to Mac? Intuit controls the file format, so there is no excuse. My data file exceeds 22MB with 15+ years of accumulated data. It is intolerable to think I should suffer loss of data to convert. This is not acceptable.

Since patience has not yield results from the Quicken/Mac user community, how do we get Steve Jobs to focus some of his invective away from Adobe and towards Intuit?

I was at a job fair yesterday; Intuit said they were in serious need of Mac developers. I suspect this is the result of that need going unfulfilled.

"And it can't export your data to Intuit's popular TurboTax program."

This little quirk cost me thirty hours of work a couple tax seasons ago. This is as bad as saying "the program will not allow you to use the number "3".

Seriously what is the point?

I use Quicken for Mac only to keep a current checkbook balance.

If either bankofamerica.com or mint.com started allowing entry of pending transactions, I would stop using Quicken entirely.

Yah it's called mint.com and it's free.

Mint is lacking in that you can only get transactions from banks that allow you to download. You can't add banks and accounts that don't have a web interface.

That's what my wife the CPA tells me, there are other basic features Mint also lacks that makes it inpracticial for many,

I used to use quicken for a long time but then I stopped because it needed a lot of manual input and I am not in front of my computer all the time. For the past few months, I have been using the Mint app on the iPhone and love it. That is all I need for now. I use the Citi app to pay my bills. I don't need a lot of power or integration with Turbotax etc.

Best Kept Secret

Is a magnificant, inexpensive (29 bucks, but FREE if you don't mind a 'nag' screen when opening) pure Mac Intel Native 64 bit financial program that does much much more than this 'new' Quicken. It's called 'SEE Finance'.

The company doesn't seem to advertise it and that's a mistake, they need marketing!

I found it by chance reading disgrunted Quicken user commentary over on the MacInTouch forum. Just download it and see what you think!

Been using Quicken since the early 1990's and am not impressed with their current management or products.

I am in no way associated with SEE Finance other than an experimenting, and so far pleased, user.

...not available to UK users !

...is this lucky break on our behalf ? There seems to be lots of -ve feedback here. Mint.com also not available to UK users, mind you many of us over here haven't got much cash to manage these days. :(

Biggest reason is Mint's in the cloud, and Quicken/others aren't. Like any in-the-cloud application, you must have networking to get your data.

No network = no access to your data = no way am I relying solely on that product.

In 2010, is it really an issue having your data on a network you need the internet to access? Everyone has internet in their homes, and wifi is prevelent almost everywhere you go nowadays. Where would you go with your mac that wouldn't have wifi?

WORST company

25 years as a Mac owner/enthusiast/business operator-

thousands of software products, hundreds of manufacturers.

I've seen it all, from great products with great support (vast minority) to the worst.

In all those years, INTUIT gets the award for WORST company and WORST software.

I'd stay away from anything this company touches, personally. I got locked into Quickbooks for Mac because of my accountant. Looks like a 1990 program. No free support. Not completely compatible with Windows version!

Please please Apple do an accounting program!!!!!! Ugh.

Agree on iBank

$70? I'll stick with iBank. Does more for less.

I ditched Quicken for Mac 2007 for iBank in 2008 and it has been working very well for me, the biggest issue for me is my bank cannot be automated, I have to download QFX files and manually import. Not fatal, but a hassle.

I had a free download with Quicken having used TurboTax and impotred some things this morning. It looks about 99.9% like iBank and IMO totally ripped them of on UI.

For now, I'll be sticking with iBank and since QFM was free I'll play around with it.

WOW! What a disappointment. I was waiting for this program, but this just won't do. I don't need the Turbotax option and could probably live with the bill pay issue, but the investment account issue and having to download and import the data files pushed me over the edge.

*Off to research other options*

Quicken or something else?

I just bought it yesterday at 11 PM, so I paid 10 dollars less, 64 bucks with taxes. Now, I am somewhat disappointed that it is a very simple program when compared to its sibling in Windows.

I will use it for a few days, and if it does not work as I want it, I will ask for my money back.

I was eagerly waiting for this app and what a disappointment. And from reading at the Intuit forums, it appears that QE for Mac cannot even print checks….

I will stick with iBank for Mac/iPhone.

it can't export to TurboTax, so can it really do anything that the free QuickenOnline or Mint.com ?
(I know QuickenOnline is being migrated to Mint.com not that Mint.com is owned by Intuit)

The company plans, however, to add such features as detailed investment tracking and bill pay to a future update.
My bank does this online already. With Turbotax (and other) compatibility, I might add. For free. This whole genre of software has been overtaken by the web. I can't see spending money on anything similar ever again.

In all those years, INTUIT gets the award for WORST company and WORST software.

Your accountant requires Quickbooks?? Ouch. All the accountants I know (including me) hate it with a passion. Don't worry though, the Win version also looks like a 1990 program, so it's not just a Mac thing.

Definitely one of the worst companies on Mac. Although they did bring Turbotax back recently, and it isn't horrible.

Networks never go down? Servers never go down? Really?

I can think of hundreds of places I might take my MacBook Pro with me that don't have network access for one reason or another. If you live in a big metro with 100% reliable network and lots of publicly available wifi hotspots, good for you. Not everyone is in that situation.

I'm liking the cloud and its benefits more and more, but I will never like a cloud where my data is only available to me in the cloud. NEVER.

I live in the suburbs of Los Angeles, on Verizon FIOS. Seriously, just last week my FIOS internet went down for half a day. I survived, of course, but even here in the big city, network access isn't 100% reliable - but in all fairness to FIOS, I think that's the first time in 15 months of having the service that there's been a problem.

Does iBank support printing checks, even to Quicken pre-printed checks, like Quicken 2007 for Mac does?
