I write Portuguese and English all the time, now I don't need to switch languages, LOADS of differences, if you only speak 1 language, you don't know how frustrating it is to start writing in (e.g. English) and see autocorrect flunking everything because your keyboard is set on Portuguese.

Widgets? Quite obvious? Now on the lock-screen, now on the home screen, now on 3D touch menu, compact and extended views, etc.

Safari? Split screen on iPad
Thanks for sharing, always interesting what other people find useful as we all use things differently.

For example, for me, using only 1 language (short of rare occasions) with the keyboard that change isn't noticeable and one I don't really think much about.

For widgets, I've always accessed them via notification center no matter where I am (lock screen, home screen, another page of the home screen, within an app, etc.) so the new access points don't have as much of an impact. Compact and extended views are certainly interesting, hopefully more apps will start using them, but hopefully not at the expense of hiding too much behind the extended view as often I'd rather have what I need from the widget without having to tap on it to get more information. 3D Touch additions seem nice, although not having a 3D Touch capable device not something I've come across.

Similarly with Safari, as I primarily use iOS on an iPhone, the iPad changes don't have as much of an impact in my use.

Android updates usually work like this:
  • Google releases new Android version
    • Nexus (Pixel) devices receive it immediately
    • Phone manufacturers receive it
      • Phone manufacturers modify it to include their own (device-specific) additions
        • Carrier-free devices receive it immediately
        • Carriers receive it
          • Carriers modify it to include their own nonsense
            • Average Joe receives update
So usually you got to wait for your phone manufacturer and carrier, to update to the newest version. If your "lucky", only for your manufacturer. But even that can take months and Samsung usually is among the slower ones...

Forgot that many average joe's phone never get it, only flagship (recently) and it takes times and its for less time than the Iphone.

My launch day jailbroken 6s+ on iOS 9.0 is still running as fast as the day I bought it. I learned my lesson on the 4s 5 and 5s to never update. For the iPhone 4s to be so lightning quick when I bought it to now cripple along by loading Reddit, that is just bad business.

None of my devices have received the OTA prompt to upgrade after the auto download.

I am going to start a petition to bring back the slide to unlock.

I normally take to new features very quickly and see the benefits as enhancements or improvements but the new lock screen annoys the crap out of me. Why do I want everyone to have acces to my widgets? Who thought this up? It would be nice to be able to slide to unlock when your hands are covered and it's supper annoying on non-touch ID devices. I could go on and on...

You can disable widgets on the lock screen, just like you could in iOS 9.

I'm sick (of the gamble) of upgrading phones. iOS 9 killed my 4S, way slowed down my 5 and works great on my 6+. I've leaned my lesson. Never upgrade beyond one OS version the phone was originally shipped with...Or pay the consequences.

Next iOS upgrade I see will be on a new phone a few years from now. None of these are going any further. I'm passing on 10.

I like 10. It forced my hand a bit on upgrading though. I picked up a used 6s because it's clear it was geared around more screen real estate and makes heavy use of 3D Touch, which my 5s lacked.

I much prefer notifications in 10 and love the updates to Messages. I have never made use of widgets. Not in Android and not in any prior version of iOS and not on any desktop OS. The closest thing I can think of is my watch.

I don't love the new lock screen. I don't mind the widgets and like the easier access to the camera (handy with kids) but losing some easy way to jump to the passcode sucks. Most of the time Touch ID is great but when cooking and my hands are wet or dirty? I have blow Touch ID 3 times to get a passcode prompt. Bleh.

It was okay on my 5s but really shines on the 6s or higher.

Very roughly speaking...thats approaching 500 million devices.

What always annoys me is that this number is obviously not true.

So 1/3rd of the iPhones ever made that are still working are running iOS10. ?

Really?

No. we know that's not true, however that's what the headline implies.

Works great on my 6s, feels like it was made for iOS 10 with the Siri and 3D touch enhancements and amazingly doesn't work badly on a 5c that I played with the other day. The only thing that could have been better would have been a clearer notification about space required to install it and letting the user know the space will be returned at the end of the install (as it was putting off the 5c user from upgrading). Hopefully with the slow death of 16Gb models we should see the end of such misery.

Nice, This is the only real thing I want from iOS 10 but being able to have my personal apps last eternity instead of 7 days w a jailbreak is more comfortable for now and can wait until a new jb comes out to try it. My autocorrect is such a mess between Spanish and English and messes it up even on correct keyboards w many words as well so I hope it works great w both integrated into one.

I really wish Android updates were like this. For example my Nexus 6P is on Nougat, but my S7 Edge is still stuck on Marshmallow.

I heard they were bringing out a new os update for the note 7... Hot-Pockets!

Boom boom ching... I'm here all week people

There we go again... what you use your phone for?

Widgets are better, Maps is better, unlock screen is better, keyboard is better, Safari is better, control center is better, there are so much much things that are better. On top of that, security updates.

The only reason not to update are those people that jailbreak so they can install pirated apps.
Control center is better? It's honestly the feature I dislike the most.

One reason the iOS 10 adoption rate is so high is that iOS 9 sucked so bad. 10 can't be any worse than 9 so you might as well upgrade....
I loved 9! Am I the only one?

I have used iOS 10 for months and all the little tweaks don't move the needle. I know all the ins and outs. They don't do anything game changing or add value to an average users daily use.
Yes they do. I'm writing this on an iPad Air 2 and the first obvious enhancement are the new keyboard sounds, nice and soft. The more you type, the more you will like it. Now when you switch between keyboards the name of the new keyboard is briefly displayed on the space bar. And even when I have selected the wrong keyboard for the task, it doesn't correct my English words to the closest German words anymore. That's a huge improvement for bilingual writers. Further more text selection now works reliable on all websites. This was a hassle before.

These few changes make me pity iOS 9 users. I couldn't go back and I consider iPads who can't run the newest OS version broken. Apple software is not always about game changing new features, but incremental refinements to basic functionality. The virtual keyboard was there since the beginning, but it didn't work so well and it's getting better and better. That's why we use Apple gear in the first place.

Upgraded as soon as it became available. Amazingly I didn't regret it.

This iOS release is the quickest and most stable that I can remember ... ever. Others may disagree of course. :)
I agree- I updated my 6 + and was worried it would slow it down but it's fine. Overall I like it and although messenger has some good new features it's a bit of a mess to use I think

iOS 10 is a solid update and in my opinion, everyone should update to it.
[doublepost=1474375555][/doublepost]
Been running it for a few months now. Most the people I know haven't updated as they don't see any great new features that push them to upgrade. Aside from the messages app and photos app enhancements nothing of real value was gained in this update.

The update is free...even if the enhancements are very minor (and they are not, in my opinion), the value is built in.

I find it funny that some people are declaring iOS 10 as the most stable release ever, and others are saying it is the buggiest ever. I am with the former. I have had zero issues of any kind with iOS 10.

Funny that the "Older" statistic is higher than the % of devices running the newest version of Android.

Well, their second to last release (not nougat, but marshmallow) officially released in October of 2015... has REALLY ramped up though!
Apparently it's now at 18%.
Lol, how embarrassing for Google.
Can you imagine Apple releasing iOS 10, but still not even a fifth of iOS users had made it onto iOS 9??
Lame.

Who are you people still using 5+ year-old mobile devices? Using a Mac for that long is one thing, but an iPhone? How many times have you had to open them up to replace the battery? Also, it's not bad business-- it's technological advancement. This is how technology has always worked. It has it's drawbacks, but that is the cost of progress. You can't reasonably expect a 4S to run iOS 9 very well (but a 5S, you likely could!). I have never had any major issues upgrading devices on day 1, but I don't use phones that are over 3-4 years old either.

It's on 34% of devices because they keep shoving that popup in your face every day to install the newest iOS.

My daughter (4) is using my old iphone 5 as an ipod touch, and we'd like to keep it on iOS9, but she will inadvertently click that popup when it comes up. There's no way to stop that popup. Go into storage/usage and delete the update? It'll redownload when the next .1 version comes out.

Is it safe...?
Looking at my dashboard - we upgraded close to 400 phones without issues - I would note that if you are a t-mobile customer there is an on/off connection issue requiring a reboot - there is a promise carrier update that should fix this

Well Apple is ripping the band aid with this release - they are getting all complaints out of the way (home button, head jack removal/adapter, slide to unlock remove, etc) so that next year people will only concentrate on the new phone.

I do use and explore frequently those functions aren't worth the upgrade for most people. Some will just grow tired and finally upgrade if they keep getting the notification from apple. I already am upgraded so you may want to read my post again. People want real value 3D touch is still gimmicky as it was when first introduced. The minor tweaks still don't add any new great features. Control Center and Lock Screen don't do anything new that iOS 9 doesn't. Majority of people don't own apple watches and it shouldn't be stock on phones to begin with. The only real new features of value for the masses is messages and photos bottom line. Also the various fresh coats of paint =/= upgrade worthy.
I'm not trying to be a dick here, but you speak "for most people" with authority but, in reality, you are only expressing a personal opinion - as I am also, and I did read your post.

Really 9to5 has a tally of features and they up to 120 - I will give you one if you deal with a lot email - Siri will learn what folder you are moving the mail and then auto-magically suggest the mailbox for you every time - insanely helpful if you have to triage a lot of email
