I sincerely hope so, I've been having issues with lock ups whilst typing and whilst app-switching. I know I've installed a Beta, but I got too eager. Should've waited until Beta 3.

The app switch lock ups are really annoying. Too bad it still happens sometimes even in beta 3, smh.

Why do they not let us beta test the Apple watch software? I had the first developer beta and could not get it to load on my watch. It kept saying no updates found even after installing the profile. I didn't want any headaches so I downgraded but am currently using the public beta 10..still with no Apple Watch testing. How do they expect us to TEST the apps and ios, if we don't have access to it? o_O

Because you can always downgrade betas of iOS, but for watchOS, you have to send your watch away to Apple for downgrading.

The feature worked fine for me in DP2. You needed to press the home button and keep it there for 2-3 seconds before it would unlock. It would not unlock if you lifted your finger or pressed the sleep/wake button to wake the device. Apple reduced the time to unlock in DP3 and restored the unlock functionality of iOS 9.

Either you've misunderstood what the feature is meant to do, or I have, but I understood the toggle to require your finger only to be rested on the home button (without a physical button click) to unlock the device. With the device now turning the screen on as the phone is raised, resting my finger to open and unlock the device instead of actually pressing/clicking would be one less step.

Not sure when you were sold on the ecosystem, but it's been like this forever. All software can have issues. Apple has never been perfect, never will be.

If you were around at the turn of the millennium for the launch of OS X you'd be very thankful for the current stability. Apple's launch of OS X Cheetah made Vista look good.

Opposite for me. When I see a pre-iOS 7 screen shot in my photo album I almost shudder. Great for it's time. But no thanks. I also have an iMac stuck on Snow Leopard and even that is inconsistent across the board. Personally much prefer where we are now, especially on Retina screens.

Snow Leopard and iOS (PRIOR to iOS 7) is what sold me on the ecosystem. I like the new full screen features in newer Mac OS versions, but most of the rest of that stuff has been a massive problem of slowdowns and incompatibility. I'm still running Snow Leopard most of the time for Logic 9.x and some PPC software. I use Mavericks at other times and have tested El Capitan. They're much slower but otherwise decent... except for the total abandonment of my pro audio hardware by M-Audio/Avid in their company split.

[Edit: being unable to spend much money replacing everything every three years makes me sink to the "ghetto" of the overly rapid Apple upgrade cycle...]

I've few to zero complaints about 10.6.x.

I think you're misunderstanding what jauhari is saying - he's talking about 3D Touch emulation on the SE, realising that the SE isn't capable of true 3D Touch but suggesting a long-touch alternative to achieve the same OS functionality.
And it wouldn't be the same and would also often enough be in conflict with other long press functionalities that might already be there.

Apple should fix their keyboard, its frustrating especially when you switch between languages or from letters to emoji.

I'd like to see a better place for the keyboard button. It's always getting triggered when I don't want it.

In fact, I wish Apple would make the control panel slide up when ONLY swiping from the bottom center, not edges. It constantly gets in the way of swipe motions on the keyboard (like the 123 button).

I use a 5 year old MacBook, it runs El Capitan like a champ.

But you're using a 7 year old version of Logic, so I'm not surprised you're having issues with the newer OSes. Sticking with Snow Leopard for your needs is probably wise.

I don't believe there is a 3 year upgrade cycle. My MacBook is 5 years old. My parents iPad 2 is also 5 years old. My work issued handset is a 3 year old 8GB iPhone 5C. All of these devices work great for their uses and won't be replaced any time soon.

But I also have a 9.7" iPad Air which replaced my iPad Air 2. I had no intention of upgrading the Air 2, but the stylus features on the Pro were a no brainer for my needs of note taking.

It's all about use cases, if the device isn't designed for the job you're asking it to do, you're going to struggle. If I just bought a stylus for my iPad Air 2 instead of upgrading the tablet my experiences would've sucked and I'd still be using a paper notepad.

I'm probably gonna get a lot of hate for asking, but is it daily driver ready yet? I don't mind a few bugs here and there. I'm jb so can't test it out without losing my jb,

My only modern Mac is a MacBook Pro 5,5 (late 2009). Decent hardware. Not bleeding edge, but it does remarkably well (with Snow Leopard). I haven't upgraded to Logic X because it's not supported on Snow Leopard. Logic 9.x has UI bugs in Mavericks and newer. I haven't upgraded to El Capitan because of the hardware I'll lose (M-Audio/Avid, mentioned earlier, plus editors for various Korg and Roland hardware). I haven't replaced that hardware because IT STILL WORKS and I LIKE it.

I know this problem is not new and isn't isolated to Apple, but it's getting worse. Without money to constantly be buying the latest things, we have to stay with one system for as long as possible and not upgrade ANYTHING. But then what do you do when your Mac dies and new machines require the latest OS? i looked on eBay and i cannot justify buying a still working USED Mac to run old software and hardware at the prices listed. Otherwise, I'd have replaced my MacBook Pro 3,1 with the equivalent Mac mini. But $100 more gets a new machine... which can't run the software I am using anyway.

It's incredibly frustrating. Making it worse is Apple accelerating the obsolescence and making the software more bloated each version. It makes me wonder why i use computers at all. I abandoned Windows and PCs because of endless bad/buggy behavior in both software and hardware. Must I go back to that to keep my existing hardware with the forced OS upgrades this industry pushes on us?

People say we're not forced to upgrade but what else do you call it? The native Internet browser was abandoned by Apple on iOS 6. Third party browsers don't solve it because the Internet itself is bloated and required me to buy a new phone with more RAM and faster CPU. Buying the new phone forces me to use El Capitan to use the same features of iCloud that I was using with my Mac on Mavericks. I still use my iPhone 4 as an iPod because I cannot move my music library and my notes to ONLY El Capitan right now. Etc etc...

I hate computers.

Is the new setting for TouchID a hint for iPhone 7? Possibly no more physical button that's why there's no need to press?

I feel like that would piss off a lot of people because it would need getting used to not activating it accidentally. There's a jailbreak tweak that basically let's you touch the home button to emulate pressing it and I couldn't get used to it but I didn't really use it for that long.

new keyboard sounds! those crack developers are always changing how we live! what a time to be alive.

Here is a dissenting account: iOS 10 DP III has been buttery smooth for me, and while battery life is slightly below par, it is generally understood that it will even out or exceed the battery life of the previous software version. YMMV.

Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but I noticed that sensitive information contained in widgets, such as activity data, is restricted until you Touch ID to unlock. It also appears that the padding between the Music peek and pop options have been condensed into one bubble. These may have been previous editions, but they stood out to me after updating.
Nope. Massive conflicts with third party apps and bad GUI glitches on top of battery life drain. Pass.

Warning: Do NOT upgrade to iOS 10 Developer Beta if your Home Button is bricked! I just tried to jump in, updated via iTunes to beta 3 and was locked out of my iPhone due to the new Press home to unlock feature, Home Button being defective and lock screen refusing to display any AssistiveTouch possibilities.
Had to downgrade by using a third party tool to enter Recovery Mode and install 9.3.3 via iTunes. Because iTunes/Xcode/Configurator will not offer you any restore/update options unless you unlock your device, resulting in a metal/glass brick with a white screen and a few words.

Thank goodness for the Rest Finger to Open option! Unlocking in iOS 10 on an iPhone 6 Plus has been horrible for me - until this update

Just saw this new update and changes. In the mail app, when you click on an email, the arrows used to be up and down in previous iOS versions but now it's left and right.

Frustrating how, and fix how?

1-When you switch keyboards to emoji , the "keyboard switch button" jumps to the far left
2-Having to switch keyboard to the number pad just to use numbers is frustrating. numbers should be on the main keyboard like android.
3-The numbers are on one keyboard/pad screen (the 2nd screen), but the arithmetic signs are on another keyboard (the 3rd). They are extremely commonly used together
