I'm not trying to antagonize, and should disclose that I am pro gun-control laws, however I've learned to stay away from generalizations like this!
Take dilemma for example: Let's ban cars because cars can be used for killing.
Outrageous statement right? Neither of the following statements are true:
1) All cars are used for killing.
- False, because cars are used for transportation.
2) No cars are used for killing.
- False, because some cars have been used as tools to facilitate killing.
Now for the gun emoji: Let's ban gun emojis because guns are used for killing.
Neither of these statements is true:
1) All guns are used to kill
- False, people use guns for other means such as collectors items, sports, etc. Hunting, while it does imply killing, is different (in my opinion) especially in areas where lack of hunting would cause population control issues for certain animals and impact the ecosystem.
2) Guns are not used to kill
- False, guns are often used to inflict harm.
While this is a long winded post, I hope you see my point.
It's not as outrageous as one may think to use the gun emoji while texting a friend asking if they want to hunting.
