Hello all, yesterday when I tried to upgrade to iOS beta 5, it said there was an update, listed as beta 4, I thought I might have just missed an update, so I update and the update failed and it forced me roll roll back to 9.something. I tried several times to upgrade to 10 beta 4, but it failed every time and it doesn't offer me beta 5. Any ideas what is going on here?

Hey guys.

Had the first public beta on iPhone 6s when it came out and the fancy effects for messages (fireworks, etc and text effects) were accessed by holding on the blue send arrow.

I took the first beta off the iPhone but have now installed the latest public beta and the "hold on the blue arrow" doesn't seem to work..... Has it changed or is it not working for others??

Beta 5 is what the developer version is, the public beta is beta 4 -- they are both the same build.

Do you have "reduce motion" enabled in accessibility settings?

@C DM yep the reduced motion was the issue, new feature or bug??

Seems like basically Apple tying more of the animation aspects to that "reduce motion" option.

Thanks for the tip. I just thought the feature was broken. I sure hope they change it back because I enjoy using the message features with my wife, but I hate having all the other motion stuff on.

Hard to say if they'll change it back, seems like they are tying as much motion/animation aspects to that control as they can as time goes on (for some that's a welcome thing, for others not so much).

At any rate I made a submission in the feedback app. Hopefully they get some negative feedback on the change.

Changed the output symbol?!!!! It looks just like the AirDrop symbol! How will we ever tell them apart?!
Personaly I don't think the problem is with mistaking it for Airdrop but to change it to something that is universally represented by 2 symbols: headphone or speaker...just as the phone functionality is unversaly represented by an 80's style handset...taking new roads in soemthing like symbology should probably only be done if there is an advantagious reason for it...not a marketing reason...

We are only talking bout a few small "widgets" in those days which are fairly different from what widgets are like these days. You can always get a widget to post to Facebook and/or Twitter these days as well.

Looking at the two NC the same time, iOS 5/6 appears obviously clearer to me. Without translucent effect and with straightforward PLAIN text showing how old the notification is, the classic design really brings the idea of NOTIFICATION home.

Well, that's a change to iOS design in general as of iOS 7, which is a somewhat different thing (which has certainly been discussed and debated in many threads over the years since iOS 7 made its appearance).

The feedback may actually help. I spoke with an Apple tech on the beta team yesterday. He said it's not going to change at this time. But said to keep leaving feedback on it, and they may change it at some point. He said the effects work better with reduce motion OFF. Yet they worked fine in public beta 2 with reduce motion on.

That's the kinds of things that can happen in betas where they tweak functions pity of things (can even happen in regular releases as well).

Interesting tidbit. If anyone sends you "Happy Birthday" via iMessage, including folks on iOS 9.3.4, the balloons go up. Of course you must have reduce motion OFF.

I upgraded to public beta 5 and I still have the "Home" in the settings. I also have problems with Feedback Assistant working. I have two sitting in Outbox saying "compressing". I've tried force closing, rebooting, etc. to no avail. It seems like I have issues in beta 5 that I had in beta 1 that aren't getting fixed. I have iPhone 6 Plus.

Actually, he does. I'd argue you don't. Betas have broken stuff in them. Apple betas in particular, really.

If you can't handle your phone being broken in annoying ways, don't use dev betas. It says pretty explicitly they're intended for development machines only so that you can prepare your apps for a new version of the OS. If you decide to go against that recommendation, you don't really have a right to complain. The official release comes out when the software is finished and sounds more your speed.

Wrong, neither of you seem to know what I'm saying and that's fine because a sensor was activated with iOS10 Beta 2 and now has disappeared with Beta 6, so this was an issue and Apple has fixed this issue. Do some ****ing research before you try to jump down my back about an issue that doesn't concern you.

Well, as mentioned before, the real issue was with the functionality of that feature (and it perhaps not working correctly), and not with Apple providing some sort of controls to hide the warnings related to it (which would be needed for that feature).

Wow, chill out. No need to get so aggro! also, why post on a forum if you don't want people to respond?

Also, suggesting to leave the beta and go back to a stable release is a valid suggestion if you're having issues that are annoying you on daily use, which that obviously is. I'll leave you to it if you're going to be rude.

I wasn't being aggressive whatsoever. I simply suggested that Apple should remove that sensor activation and guess what? Apple removed the popup that showed every time I plugged my power cord in.
Everyone else's suggestion was to get rid of the beta if I don't like it, which isn't a valid suggestion.

Or perhaps Apple simply fixed an issue that was causing the pop-up to appear when it shouldn't have been appearing?

Exactly! but people try to make me feel bad for posting a comment about the known issues with my beta and telling me basically that I'm out of luck instead of saying something like "yeah I have that issue too, hopefully Apple will fix it", which they did fix. Apple fans are so snappy and "matter-of-fact" that no one can have an actual issue without being told they are wrong for having the problem.
