All their data and caches are removed too. Only the shell of the app remains. If it was just the icon there would be no space savings at all.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but "removing" them doesn't save any space. You can literally re-download them in airplane mode. I've really only tested the Maps app, but even after re-downloading it in Airplane mode, it still had all my recent searches. User data deleted, my ass. Even if they were actually removed, all the default apps combined total about 150mb, which is pretty much negligible. And people who choose to remove default apps, don't remove all of them.

I always love these videos btw. Keep them coming.

I just put stock apps I don't want in a folder. Takes up one icon space. What's the big deal? This new iOS 10 feature to delete default apps could be more trouble then it's worth for Apple and users.

How is splits screen safari a hidden feature when it was shown during the keynote?
The thread already addresses that a few times.

Apparently given how many people complain about that kind of thing on an ongoing basis, somehow it's a "big deal" for many of them (for whatever reason it might be, even if it's really no actual reason).

This only applies to Ford owners, but when you're using AppLing in Sync 3, all of the AppLink apps show up on the Apps screen (and Audio Sources) instead of just the active app. There, that wasn't announced.

"Burst my bubble"? I don't know why you think I've got some vested interest in this. I just read elsewhere that was the case. You're right though, I just reinstalled tips in arplane mode. The feature is pretty pointless, except to quiet a few whiners. Search "apple crap folder" and the like on this board for examples

not sure how you copy a feature like split view from Windows 8 but make it worse. This just makes split view act even more inconsistent - it is just all over the place.

I am pretty pumped to be able to get rid of the Apple folder where I put all of the junk Apple loads on that I don't care about
I'm also pumped that you'll be able to do that. But I question whether your excitement really indicates not caring about the built-in apps.

Which is completely and utterly pointless. You know why I want to delete these apps? Because I don't use them which also means they don't have any data or cache to delete. So they allow me to hide this stupid watch app I don't want, but it is still taking up memory on my phone.

The forum has been really quiet since Dub Dub DC....The disappoint me is real and I feel bad for all those told to wait on buying a new Mac till after the event!
Unless you're desperate, just keep using what you have now. Updates are coming. We were warned that there wouldn't be any hardware announcements at WWDC. Hoping against hope is okay, but it's not as though Apple pre-announced new MBPs with full details to be given in the keynote without fail, and then surprised us all by dropping the hardware reveal at the last minute.

They did what was scripted, so if you're jonesing for a new Mac because it's been a while, then you're probably right about a hardware release coming sooner rather than later. Why not stick it out and see what's coming?

If you can't wait, then do what you have to do. If you're ready to call it quits because Apple has disappointed you one too many times and you want to make them sorry for treating you so badly, then I hope you and your revenge laptop are happy together. Me, I'm gonna stick it out.

The average consumer doesn't clear up their schedule to watch WWDC on a work day at 1pm and none of these features are on Apple's website.

The average consumer is an idiot if they're installing the first beta of a developer release. They should wait at least for the public beta next month, at which point an article/video like this would be of use.

so i'm very curious: with the new "voip" addition to the phone app, if i use custom ringtones for specific contacts, will calls made through viber, whatsapp etc. finally work with custom ringtones? because that's something i've waited many years for)

I was without the Internet until Thursday so didn't get to see WWDC.

Do find it somewhat a long winded process in terms of Safari and Split View; but I guess it's good we can now view it side by side (rather than Safari/Chrome etc).

It's barely taking up anything of meaning. So what's the issue again?

Or they would see what it's all about without installing anything at all.

To be honest, I feel this is the right approach anyway especially because you can't change the default app for these services to be a third party app. If the whole app is removed and then someone sends you a map link, what would the OS supposed to do when you tap on the link?! That's a worse experience.

Wow.
First three in.
First three off point.

Looks like it caught another mouse.

MR, thanks for vids. They're handy links to send people who didn't watch the keynote.

It's the title thats wrong, not the content.
