So on the article about the keynote video being posted everyone here was saying don't bother watching it, and now people moan when MR post a nice little video summary of iOS features mentioned in the keynote?

FML. This place has more whiners and complainers than most customer service departments!

Safari split view is neat..... particularly the "unlimited" tabs.... I guess when u get to a big enough number it will run outta memory anyway based on content of all websites so users will probably do that more often, so that is not unlimited,, its just more than the average user would need :D Say maybe 500+ tabs ? Anyone wanna try this ?

I like how Apple would keep the apps hidden, but remove all access to them. After all, if u can't access a hidden app via Siri or any other method, users are gonna believe this feature actually does work.

Apple music removal of songs = good,,, almost sounds like their talking about offline downloaded music.

or it could just be your own personal songs u have not listen to in a while, and Apple just put this in the wrong section :)

It's the title thats wrong, not the content.
So what.
Its a sight thats free and relies on eyeballs.
You don't like the titles?
Easy solution.
Make your own tech blog and make any titles you want.
Then you to can have the joy of reading endless snarky remarks about your work.

To be honest, I feel this is the right approach anyway especially because you can't change the default app for these services to be a third party app. If the whole app is removed and then someone sends you a map link, what would the OS supposed to do when you tap on the link?! That's a worse experience.

Agreed. If you already offer a way to remove the built-in mail, calendar, browser, or mapping app, you should allow the user to choose a default replacement app instead. Otherwise, you will just see annoying warnings to restore these apps whenever a link tries to open them. I don't mind leaving the built-in apps visible, but I'd prefer to have a choice for opening links in Google Maps or third party calendars by default.

Yeah which requires providing much deeper integration than what they've managed to achieve right now. It may come in a later version, who knows.

Much like in Safari on desktop , It "asks" u if u wanna change default browsers, iOS should ask you if u wanna change default apps. then Apple can hide apps all they like, and never delete them, and it won't affect the user in anyway since users would use their own apps.

now you can 'remove' stock apps, but hope siri api implementation can make third party apps pick the slack of the deleted app. like the video example when instead of saying you need to download calendar isntead the new calendar app would take its place for those siri commands.

Thank you - not sure why no matter the article, someone has to post something snarky. So what if some of these were covered in the keynote? This video pulls all that together and in a few minutes you get a good roundup of the new iOS 10 features. Sheesh, people.

What forum has been quiet?

Normally I would log in on any single day and amount of activity on different posts would be very high and my watched threads would all have updates but not as much since last Tuesday...

If you're ready to call it quits because Apple has disappointed you one too many times and you want to make them sorry for treating you so badly, then I hope you and your revenge laptop are happy together. Me, I'm gonna stick it out.

I agree, not looking to jump the mother ship and will continue to suckle from Apple's teat for years to come but the milk is starting to dry up that's all..

It's such a joke that you still can't set third party apps as the default app on iOS still.
Why's it such a big deal when default apps work just fine for over 90% of the users & if you really want some other app then just launch it & use.

Not sure what threads you are following, but the iOS 10 beta and other similar beta forums here have had a good amount of constant activity so far. And threads about those betas have been quite active many going on for pages.

Yeah I was a little surprised we didn't see a few more "pro" features for iPad.

I would actually like to see Apple bring back some Newton gestures like dragging items to the edge of the screen as a placeholder, auto shape recognition, pen gestures, handwriting recognition, etc. to take full advantage of Apple Pencil. A lot of Newton UI was groundbreaking stuff and way ahead of its time.

"Pro" is strictly a marketing term.

While the iPad "Pro" does make it sound like it's a device that can be used for everything a professional business owner, architect, etc, does, the truth is Apple is more focused on kids and grandparents now.

A technology company shouldn't cater to the end-user, as that takes away the potential for exciting innovation, as the end-user is always resistant to change. I cannot wait to see other companies come out with phones that are actually waterproof. I cannot wait to see shatterproof screens on phones. I cannot wait to see how far VR technology goes. Meanwhile Apple likes to come out with a pink colored iPhone which has none of those features and showing them off at a snooze-fest keynote event.

Between the pink iPhones, the queer messaging enhancements that will be coming in iOS 10, the lack of innovation, and other stuff, Apple is really starting to become a company I am annoyed with. Went right from a company I used to love to an absolute joke.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but "removing" them doesn't save any space. You can literally re-download them in airplane mode. I've really only tested the Maps app, but even after re-downloading it in Airplane mode, it still had all my recent searches. User data deleted, my ass. Even if they were actually removed, all the default apps combined total about 150mb, which is pretty much negligible. And people who choose to remove default apps, don't remove all of them.

I always love these videos btw. Keep them coming.

Seeing more articles from some of the more technical sites saying they are just hidden, not deleted.
Wonder if this will apply to all of these stock "allow delete" apps?

I just put stock apps I don't want in a folder. Takes up one icon space. What's the big deal? This new iOS 10 feature to delete default apps could be more trouble then it's worth for Apple and users.

Why? not seeing your reasoning.

Could be. Personally I prefer to get them OSOM.

Those defaults are heavily integrated into the OS, unless the replacement implements the exact same functions (a drop in replacement), they need to be the default. Considering controlling the quality of the user experience is the key to Apple (vs Android), the whining is a bit much.

I'm sorry, but it must be said: These forums are literally cancer now. Why all the hate towards MacRumors? I'm a power user and I like these little videos I can send off to people, and there were even a couple things I didn't know about. For instance, I had heard there was an email filter but that article didn't mention that you could customize the filter. That will be handy!

But seriously, you guys need to find better things to complain about. For example, the two jokers who are running for president right now. Or literally anything else.

Couldn't agree more.

Thank you for the video. Been really enjoying the video reviews coming out of here.

Nice features there, shame I son't use the mail app, I have found Outlook to be fantastic, but the other features are cool.
Nice that I will at long last see the end of my 'Unused' folder full of Apples stuff I never use!

Does anyone really still gets excited by a new version of a mobile phone OS? Or a new mobile phone model, for that matter?
