I'd obviously be happy to have 3D Touch on my SE. But I view it as a gimmick on iOS 9, and a slightly more prominent gimmick on iOS 10. Which is not to say it's bad at all; I'd rather have it than not. But it's not going to make me leave the SE for a bigger phone.

It's their biggest release yet.

I think they mean it has more features than any prior OS. So even a minor singular feature update makes it the biggest release ever.

It's all in the clever wording. Technically true. Not what you think it means.

This! Don't get me wrong... I liked 3D Touch on my iPhone 6S Plus, but I didn't use it very much. I found it as more of a gimmick. I said the same thing about Touch ID, and was looking to the future of Touch ID doing so much more. Secure Payments, App logins, and even unlocking your watch have made it much more capable.

I expect the same in the future with 3D Touch. Used it only with a few features. However, for now I love my iPhone SE and I will hold me over until the refresh next year.

I expect (and hope) the SE will be as it is for two years, not including adding a 128GB version.

I doubt the SE changes at all. Apple will drop the price year after year to become the most affordable iPhone ever, and a brand new entry point.

Meanwhile, I expect next Spring for Apple to release a new 4" iPhone 7, probably with 3D Touch and a much higher price to go with it.

Apple knew that as well as the size, many users also weren't upgrading because of the superior design ("beloved" as Apple called it to save face). Sure, the SE could stay in the market as it is once there is a new version - just as the 4s and 5s did - but any new 4" iPhone is the kind of update I am talking about.

After seeing a newer article claiming that most of these features will be available to non 3D Touch users I think I have to take the "wait and see" approach. I thought I would mind but it's possible I won't if most of the features are intact.

I don't even think it has the most features. I recall past updates having like 100 or 200 new features, regardless of how major/minor they were.

Apple just says this is their biggest release every year. Or their best iPhone, or biggest update to iPhone since iPhone. It's the same thing for every release.

As opposed to essentially any other company saying the same kinds of things about any new update to any product they have?

Yeah, I don't recall every other company saying their new product is the biggest release since the original every single year. Obviously it's going to be the best product they've made, but not necessarily the biggest update like Apple claims every year.

Don't forget that Apple can make some 3D Touch actions without actually having the Taptic Engine bar, take for instance live photos works on the SE just no feedback but the action still works. I see them incorporating more of these actions into the next SE without actually having the Taptic bar.

Voted no but honestly it's not like I'd say no if it had it. I just think most use cases are handled just as well by long press. Viewing Live Photos is an obvious example. I think anywhere 3d touch is implemented long press should be an option. Where there are multiple levels of 3D Touch make the most likely/obvious choice; don't lock non 3D Touch users out completely. Example: you can 3D Touch an email notification a little to peek and a lot to open in place, right? Well there's no reason a long press couldn't do the latter (or the former if it makes more sense. I haven't really gone through the use case in detail but I guess you can reply in-line with swiping already). Non 3D Touch users only miss half the functionality that way, not everything.

Do you know how easy it would be for Apple to add a "Clear all" button to the lock-screen and/or notifications screen??? No force-touch needed.....Android has had it for years. They are choosing not to give us that capability unless you upgrade to a force-touch device, which is total BS.

Lol, calm down & breathe deeply.
Senior staff presenters at WWDC in an interview after stated clearly that the 3D Touch features would be made available on other hardware as well.

yep, see Post #50.....already got the news, and i'm very relaxed now that I will finally have a "clear all" button on my SE.....;)

If they're able to add 3D touch things from iOS 10 to non 3D touch devices, then can't they add all 3D touch features?? Should just be a long touch or something.

A few features I can see not working. For example the 3D Touch of an app icon wouldn't work if long pressed due to the nature of Kong pressing an icon giving you the option to delete. Of course they could change the method in which we delete apps to remedy this. I think you'd hit a similar wall with things like moving the cursor in s body of text by force touching the keyboard as well as the app switcher activation (which can arguably be done with the home button anyway, so no real loss there).

have a 6s plus black 64 on 9.0.2 jailbroken

just got a 5se white 16, trying out iOS 10 beta 1 :D dont want to burn a jailbreak, and curious about 4" form after some time away from it (2014)

seems pretty nice so far, especially for a first beta. holy crap it boots up quick compared to iOS 9, it feels really nice having a9/2gb in a retro body

i feel like title and post/poll dont exactly align, they're like two separate topics
