Of course!!!! if Apple is pushing to upload every day and after you say "later" it prompts you to type your password to upgrade... Is not that we are thrilled, is Apple pushing you to do it.

And not only that... Now I need to upgrade my OS to transfer songs to my iPhone via iTunes. I keep upgrading and my OS makes the computer/ iPhone slower.
Well, with later you aren't deciding not to install, you are deciding to install, just later instead of now.

Didn’t surpurse me. My backup S8 took forever to get it. I couldn’t figure out why newer phone would be so slow to get it but that’s just how it is.

If you want Android phone with prompt updates, best bet is to get the Pixel or Android One phones ...

Everyone knows this and yet Pixel sales are not number one. That tells me most people don't care about prompt Android OS updates.

This is like bragging 99% voter turnout for the single candidate in dictator-run countries. you have no choice.

Would you like to vote for Comrade Tim Cook [Now] or [Later]?

One of the reasons Pixel is not number one is because Google is only selling it in very few markets.
But it’s true that in general, people don’t care, I concur. I wasn’t the one complaining about Android updates,l. I’m just providing a solution for those who do. In contrast, there is almost zero tech bloggers ever mention Android One phones.

People love to blame the user when it's convenient for their argument. Truth is a proper security system would've reduced the risk of this happening because the folks that also had Google account was unaffected on the Google side. Keep apologizing and nothing will change.
Truth is a proper password, would have stopped the issue, in conjunction with the users following apples recommendations. But nice try. Of course, no gmail account every got hacked, ever.

There’s an archive. If you attempt to download app from old iOS version it will allow you to download latest available version.

Why would you and your friends want to downgrade? Don’t you care about security, bug fixes and new features? Sometimes even better performance.

Simple no. If my phone runs like crap (my iPhone 6 and iPod Touch do), I want older firmware. Simple. I have all my iPad mini 4 stayed in iOS 9 and iPad 4 stayed in iOS 8.

Oh mate how can you live without dock and improved split screen and slide over. It makes iPad much more useful. iOS 11 is dedicated to make iPad better.

I also benefit from:
- Files app
- new keyboard with numbers and symbols always accessible.
- improved multitasking screen
- new App Store
- better spotlight
- more powerful notes
- faster Safari
- better design and accessibility
- screen recorder
- new screenshot and markup tools
- shared iCloud storage
- improved widgets
I just value stability over features.

With 13 releases of iOS 11. It's kind of hard not to be on it, since your Apple device gets cranky and asks you to upgrade non-stop. Unless your device does not support it.

Plus there is WatchOS 11.3, or HomePod which requires iOS 11. So the more deeper you are in the ecosystem, you can't avoid it.

It's also kind of hard to BE on it, if your carrier or hardware manufacturer can't or won't provide it at all...

I am not running iOS 11 on this device. It is too old to accept the update. Wow, that's amazing! I am using an Apple device which is at least seven years old to reply to this thread. I'm sorry it can't get iOS 11, but I'm happy that I can use it to this day!

Where do other similar factors fit in, like security?
They don't. There are no real (in-the-wild) security threats. No iOS user was actually affected - other than in potential threats -by staying on an older iOS version. There were theoretical threats. That's not enough to convince me.

I really don't mean to be all negative here, but why does this topic even matter? I couldn't care less what percentage of Android users have whatever version of Android. I also couldn't care less what version of iOS all you guys are running.

Android's fragmentation is just ridiculous. My wife got a "current-generation flagship" phone at Christmas. AFTER Android 8 had been released for three months. That phone just got the Android 8 upgrade this month.

My 3-year-old "flagship" phone still doesn't even have a *Nougat* update, although it's supposed to come out "soon." (It has it for non-US versions, but even the unlocked US version doesn't have it yet. Most Android tracking sites assume it won't ever get updated.)

Yes, my Android phone is just a "for testing," not actually used as my main phone (iPhone for that.) But it would be nice if it were to get an udpate once in a while.
