Now we know why there hasn't been any leaks...there was nothing to leak. This is nothing but "bug fixes and minor improvements".

This was what I was afraid of also. I had hoped that it was because Apple improved security measures. After all, it's easier to improve in house measures (hence, lack of screenshots of redesigned iOS) vs supply chain measures which Apple doesn't have as much control (hence, parts leaks). Alas, this was not the case. Apart from a few useful improvements more akin to an iOS 10.x update, nothing new here.

Honestly, I think every iOS update since iOS 8 is probably really just a iOS 7.x update.

Update: I will admit that there are some really nice and useful updates to iOS for iPad. I may even consider the public beta later this month. But, at its heart, it still is the same "grid of apps" home screen and it still wastes usable space. At a minimum, I'd like to adjust the size of app icons and allow more in the same space similar to MacOS's display settings.

Control Centre looks modular. Lots of space to add more buttons or take out those you don't use. I love HomeKit in Control Centre. It's one of my most used features. I hope that you can add your favourite scenes to the new control centre.

I'm curious to see if the virtual card for Apple Pay p2p would allow my kids to use it on their phones. Seems like a nice way to easily send money virtually in a pinch.

Sounds more like .1 upgrade, rather than a whole new system...but maybe it's just me...

I'm sorry guys but before I came here I went to the Apple site to read/see all the changes (I didn't watch the keynote) and I finished with tears of joy!
God this was a good update to iOS and even a great day to be an Apple user considering the hardware that was announced!

I'm even more hyped now to see the new iPhone in a few months!

To people saying it's a disappointment, at least they put more effort in to it than Macos.

Apple holding back features for its most iconic product (iphone). Trying to force non ipad owners to buy an ipad. Sad

Interesting that they've reverted the signal strength meter from dots back to bars. I wonder why they made that change?

I have a question that maybe someone who is a tech journalist or otherwise "in the know" hopefully can answer: is the reason why Apple repeatedly refuses to redesign the home screen because of some kind of patent issue? Put another way, does Google own certain generalized patents on the Android OS home screen design and that's why Apple won't redesign the iOS home screen to something similar?

I think at one of the trials it came out that Apple's lawyers were behind the iPad screen looking like an iPhone, right down to defaulting to only four docked icons.

This was so Apple could claim that an icon grid with four icons at the bottom was their own special trade dress, and win over Samsung.

Of course, those trials are long over with. So if that was true, it's not a good excuse any more.

I'd love to see Apple do something like that years old Android Kickstarter project homescreen called Chameleon.

Where you could pick and choose and rearrange all sorts of handy widget areas... and really make use of all that tablet real estate.

On the subject of Apple Maps updates, it's interesting that the busiest airport in the world (Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta) is missing from the list of airports that will be mapped at launch. Seems like a glaring omission; but then again, it's Apple Maps so frankly, I'm not surprised.

Honestly, that looks more advanced than anything I've seen on any platform. And to think this is a "years old" home screen project!

IOS 11 is mainly for the iPad. For the iPhone nothing that jumps out as amazing but what they have now works fine anyway

AR Kit looks cool, as does their AI Kits... natural language etc... outside that this was hugely disappointing. Nobody older than 12 gives two ***** about stickers and other nonsense. They really should focus more now on REMOVING stuff instead of adding. There are way too many options to do way too many stupid things nobody cares about. It's a phone. Make it a great phone that runs apps. Swipe up, down, triple swipe here, there, blah blah blah. Control Center looks dumb as hell, Siri doesn't DO ANYTHING worthwhile. If they focused on opening it up to developers more the community might come up with something useful... maybe.

Hmm, maybe siri will catch up to google now?

Course not, what a horrible update! Wonder if Apple is holding back for the iphone 8.

That or Tim just likes Apple looking like it is incompetent

Kinda lame. Android auto app is fantastic, I was hoping for something similar - like car-kit on iPhones, would have been way more impressive.

Most opinions in this thread of the new control center are not favorable, but at first look, I think I'll like it better.

This is iOS 10.4

I know what you mean by this. And you're correct. I think many were experiencing or at least expecting that iOS 11 would be a completely major overhaul, when it was more a build off of iOS 10. Assumingly, not every year has to have a new build as long as they're making improvements in the right areas, which iOS 11 looks promising.
