It has not been fixed, still a problem along with LTE. I'm in the public beta and none of the modem firmware upgrades have fixed anything at this point.

have you had your phone swapped out ? It took me 4 tries to get one that worked . Granted I did return it cause it couldn't keep up with my 7 in fringe areas .

I was just commenting using my own experience with the XS Max. I had the wifi issue until 12.0.1 and I tested earlier today and the LTE issue seems to have been corrected with 12.1 too.
Interestingly, my LTE problems (no coverage in fringe areas) started with my X when 12.0 came out.
There could be some hardware issues on the XS Max or more likely it's the early adopters bad batch risk I keep telling myself to avoid but every year I buy on launch day. Duh.

Never had LTE problems when I had the Max (maybe slightly slower UL speeds) and don't have issues with the XR. Now with the latest iOS update, speed has increased for the XR when it was already very good. Nice!

My Max has been MUCH better with LTE after the 12.1 upgrade. I'm on Verizon and had very spotty service on LTE but after the update LTE is a much stronger signal and I'm getting coverage in areas that I wasn't before. Wanted to try out several areas before posting a positive result. Verizon LTE in Madison, WI is spotty anyhow but now in areas where I was getting 0.01 Mbs on LTE I'm now getting over 5 Mbs. Yes, I know that's slow for LTE but such is life in Madison in certain areas. Other areas I was in last night I was able to get 35 Mbs and 56 Mbs. Before I was struggling to even get a connection in these areas. For me there is a noticeable improvement with 12.1

Not yet, my nearest Apple Store is two hours away, but I've made a ticket with Apple Care so it's documented once I'm able to go.

It has been really interesting for sure. I beta testing iOS 12 all summer on my iPhone 8 Plus and had none of these wi-fi and cellular issues. I moved to the XS Max for the band 71 support, T-Mobile has starting launching in some of the areas I frequent, but I'm finding more dead zones than I had before "upgrading."

Finally a fix for the poor LTE connectivity!!!
Will be testing this week!

Hope it fixes the issue many users experienced but some of them had the 12.1 beta and it didn't solve, so either they added something towards the end of the beta cycle or it doesn't solve for everyone

I'm getting one bar more in my house. I do have the phone set up to also use my house Wifi, but even that wasn't working well before iOS 12.1. So, so far my calls seem less prone to getting "I can't hear you". Why is it that callers seem to get annoyed. I just say "Thank You AT&T, and they seem to understand ;)

I can’t get any service in my office at all.
My Note 8 gets perfect 5 bars, my XS gets zip. I’ve reset network settings with no luck.
Looks like it’s back to AT&T store later today.

On Verizon, no change in LTE speeds. When reception is bad, speeds are bad. When they are good, it's excellent. Don't think there is any magical elixir for fixing ****** reception. However, going from wifi to LTE and vice versa is now seamless. Same thing for going from no reception to LTE. Before it would go no reception to 3G, need to toggle off on airplane mode to get to LTE. No longer requires that.

As far as WiFi issues I made my phone “forget” the 2.4 band and now it joins the 5ghz every time.

How exactly u gonna manage the mayhem that is a 32 person video chat with friends?
Have allocated speaking time?

Agree in advance to choose a moderator. Have a protocol such that when people want to speak they raise a hand in front of their face, and the moderator chooses who speaks every time.

Mmm maybe

Even then, you gonna see all 32 people large enough on your iphone/ipad to see hand waving?

Perhaps useful for an imac or mac pro, might be able to see it then.

Even in such a case i think the feature is nice but extremely limited in practicality

Funny how Apple admitted that it was a bug but I remember some people here trying to support beautygate and saying apple did good.

Some people might like how something works even if it's not quite how it's supposed to work?

I'm thinking about the comments I was reading where people tried to defend Apple saying they're trying to appeal to teens and the selfie era. So not even necessarily talking about those that liked it. If you do though cool, should be a feature though if they were going that route rather than forced.

Exactly right. And others might attribute every difference in preference to suspicious motives.

Fair point. However, the assumption that smoothing was intentional was a view held by both fans and haters alike.
