Apple are not making room for a notch on the iPad.

There won’t be a notch, this design change is to bring consistency between the gesture based iOS devices, where it makes sense for the layout to be the same, not to mention the control centre is brought down from the top right on both the iPhone X style iPhone and iPads.
It is in preparation for the 2018 iPad Pros, but not for a notch.

But anyway, the new iPad gestures are so significant that I think it deserve to be at the top of the list but nevertheless, its a good overview of most unannounced/hidden features.

- New iPad Gestures - Apple tweaked gestures on the iPad to better match the iPhone X. You now swipe down from the top right of the iPad to bring up Control Center, rather than swiping up from the bottom. Swiping up from the dock goes to the Home screen.

So iPad will lose the home button and support Face ID very soon.
I am not liking this changed- this should be an option - not everybody has an iPhone X

"Set Up an Alternate Appearance" is a good example of language differences. The UK English usage would be “Set up an alternative appearance” because alternate means swap between two choices. That would not be good for using facial ID!

Because they were trying to quietly kill the stupid behavior where so many people repeatedly force-quit all their apps instead of like, looking at battery usage and turning off Background App Refresh on Facebook etc.
I like to use the multi-tasking view to remind me to do something in xyz app...

When all apps are open it becomes a crap shoot.

There is no good reason to make it more difficult to access this method of dealing with apps.

Wish they would bring back something like iOS 9 style control center on the iPad.

I don't like having to go into the app switcher just to change something like screen brightness or the volume especially when I'm watching a full screen video

Well I can still do that in iOS10, is there anything 9-specific you miss that is different than 10's approach?

It's a verb and an adjective in both British and American English.

So much for all the talk about few new features this year. The iPad is a little thin but overall not bad.

So I’m confused about multitasking on the iPad now. Is it swipe up from the bottom for multitasking and then all the way up to go home, or is the multitasking still with the control center and the bottom swipe only goes home? Seems confusing. Especially on devices that still have a home button, which is every iPad until the redesign sometime between October-March.

Has anyone done alternate appearance for FaceID and did someone else completely successfully?

Can you unlock an iPhone X phone using FaceID in landscape mode?

I am going to guess that’s a new iPhone XI feature only.

Can someone with iOS 12 look into this feature?

Well my post was in reference to how the control center is done in iOS 11.

But regarding iOS 10 vs iOS 9 control center, I liked how in iOS 9 everything was on one pane. No separate pages to swipe to for volume, brightness and music control.

People who force close all of their apps on their iOS devices don't get to complain about battery life.

Actually, background app refresh the culprit that drains all the battery. After you turn it off, you don’t need to force quit all the apps except waze, gmaps and facebook after you’re done using those three apps.
