In addition to what’s “relavent” in your context, that stat tends to get spinned during keynotes as a indicator of progress of the Apple platform. That’s what I referred to.
Uhm... “that stat [that] tends to get spinned during keynotes” is being provided to developers at Apple’s developer confrence and is again which iOS version is most prevalent. So it’s an entirely relavent statistic to share with the audience.

Again, you’re the one mis interpreting it or trying to make it represent something else. Something irrelavent.

You seem to be mixing up relevant with relaxative, i.e. nice/relaxing to read, proving my point again
Ah, so you finally admit what one reads on the internet isn't worth the cost of the transmitted bits...
At least you don’t seem to overestimate your contribution

Be welcome to qualify your own contribution
The statistic is relevant to developers, which is basically why it's there, as has been pointed out before.

Again, you seem to ignore the multitude of press/web/news/PR occasions where the adoption rate is used to indicate how well the platform fares in terms of health, safety, progress, innovation etc.
Specifically, as a direct competitive advantage towards Android (which iOS still has, but not to the percentage cited as here the switcher effect comes into place, as I explained, but you seem to ignore)
So in the context of the WWDC you’re right, but there’s so much more going on in the industry that neither you nor some others seem to realize - as has also been pointed out before.
So repeating your oneliner again and again adds up very little to the equation

In many of those cases it's still something that's aimed at developers to show them more about the ecosystem that they are or could be developing for. In the context of that relating it to some other things like safety or something like that can stil make sense too, given that more devices being on the latest version means that the ecosystem is safer as more are with more of the available security patches.

It sounds like the main issue with this information is what people think it supposedly implies about the latest iOS version. In reality it doesn't really say much one way or another, as that isn't what the information is for, and generally isn't what it's used for (even if some might try to apply it to something else).

Most of the web/press/news/PR instances are directed to the general public, not dev only.
Same for product keynotes
An audience 10.000x bigger than that and with way other perspectives

That doesn't change what those stats are and what they mean (or don't mean).

Indeed, overblown sales-pitch (except for devs and well-believers with apple colored lenses)

Yes, this data can be misinterpreted or misrepresented, purposefully so or not. Are you sure you, yourself, aren't the one forcing an agenda on this information, though? I mean, since your first post in this thread wanted it to represent something else.

Yes, I totally get it. You don't want "iOS 12 Now Installed on 78% of All Devices From the Last Four Years" to be taken literally as we do not know if it is *literally* installed on all Apple iDevices from the last four years. But you've gone far beyond making that editorial statement of fact. I mean, for the love of god, get it out of your system already. Please tell us just how bad things are for Apple. That's shouldn't be too hard, now should it? Apple stock has gone from a market high of $233.47 to $152.29 - That's not very healthy for a beloved company right? Please link to that Fandroid article of your choice that points out just how terrible "in terms of health, safety, progress, innovation etc." the Apple ecosystem is actually doing. Or whatever - since it's clear to everyone that don't want anyone to be "fooled".

Please, Obi-wan enlighten me. How much more is going on in the industry - I'm but a mindless zealot who drinks the flavor-aid straight from the teat.

There’s lots of hidden meanings and messages going on in the industry.
Cook and the financial world are in a constant quarrel - which might be either a cause or sequel of his abberatic tenure. I have been saying so much on industry politics today in other threads that i shouldn’t tepeat here. Do a search - if you’re really interested.
