With iOS being as advanced as it is today, having an arbitrary schedule of one planetary orbit around our home star doesn't make sense. It's a very mature operating system today that can do so many things. There aren't a whole lot of features left that we need. Mostly they need to improve what we have and fix bugs. I think this strikes a nice balance of updating once per year but maybe we get less new stuff but it runs better. It's also fewer things to change and test for. This also kinda jives with what Apple has been doing lately with point updates the past few years—adding bigger features than usual off-cycle. Although some of the recent features were promised at launch, which is probably why this change is happening. They've been giving competitors more time to come up with a solution while not shipping promised features for 3-9 months after announcement.

How about simply fixing what is broken such as photo syncing large photo libraries? What a joke.

If it’s true that their one of their main focuses this year is on polishing the existing experience, then this may very well be improved.

Would be nice for DND to reject all phone calls but still receive all other notifications. Even while I'm actively using the phone.

I almost never get legitimate phone calls.

Really irritating when I get junk calls while I'm the middle of typing a message, watching video or reading an article on a website.

I recently found myself in a situation where my iPad Pro had to sub for a laptop. All I needed to do was read a pdf file from a usb thumb drive. No problem right? I got out my USB<=>Lightning dongle, plugged in the thumb drive, and was presented an error message: the attached device needs too much power. WTF?

After all these years iOS is still a joke when it comes to getting work done. The moniker "iPad Pro" is just icing on the crap cake.

I think Apple has dropped the ball with Siri I know lots of people who don't use t now- or in the further updates- because of how bad, and consistently poor in previous releases.

I personally only use it for starting timers when cooking if I haven't got any hands free.

This would be great. One option could be for anyone not in your favorites/VIP list, pop up a little non-full screen notification with the ability to answer or send it to voicemail. If you don't respond within a set period of time it just goes to voicemail like a regular call. I get so many junk calls that are variants of my phone number that I block every time but it makes no use. For example, 555-555-XXXX where the X's are the difference from my phone number. They're trying to trick me into thinking that it's a family member who signed up at the same time as me. But don't most people just have numbers in their contacts? Doesn't make any sense, and it especially doesn't work on me since my wife is the only other person on my plan and she has an entirely different area code!

I'm looking forward to a day when companies can text me if they need to get a hold of me. I never want to talk on the phone again. If I'm talking to family far away I use FaceTime. I'm so tired of spam phone calls all the time. They need to fix the phone system. It shouldn't be possible for someone to send a call from any number they want. It's so ridiculously broken.

I want DND to have an API. If Apple doesn't want to make adequately sophisticated controls of DND available out of the box in iOS, then at least allow me to write my own app that controls DND.

The first time, I read that as Dungeons & Dragons ... *sighs*, eventually I understood.

Wow! Now we’ll be able to FaceTime smiling poop. That new amazing Billion $$$ space ship campus has really inspired the creative minds at Cupertino!

"a redesigned version of its Stocks app"
really - how is this a high priority feature? o_O
It’s a low priority feature that has been overlooked for years. Its time has come. It’s kind of like painting the trim on your house. You have to do it someday. The day you choose to do it will undoubtedly cause someone to roll their eyes at you for choosing that particular day. If you always ignore the low priority items, you’ll end up having to replace your house trim when a coat of paint should have sufficed.

Do Not Disturb has been annoying for me ever since they really started getting into HomeKit features because there is no way to allow security notifications to come through while still blocking calls, texts, news alerts, etc. I put in a bug report for this because I use Do Not Disturb every night from like 10pm to 7am but if my outside cameras (or inside) detect movement I WANT that to come through but there is no way to allow it. Very annoying.

Ok so iOS 11 was a mess and they are going to polish it with 12 that's good, but iOS also feels stagnant. How are they going to fix that if they can't reliably update their OS?

What is missing that there isn’t an app for already? People get all worked up that the layout hasn’t changed, but to me the value in the apps, not how I access them.

"Here's what I found on the web"

Hmmm I can’t find that song on Apple Music.

Who cares about Animojis???
How about doing some better upgraded computers that are on par with todays needs?

“...a two-year roadmap for iOS and macOS, rather than trying to release major feature-packed upgrades every single year without question.”

It can’t be said enough: I support this 100%. Please focus on optimizing existing code.

Just wanted to jump in and say thanks for posting something on the front page other than the Home Pod, I don't care how much Apple tries to polish that turd, it still stinks.
And to know that you would have to already bought one. Just saying.

So, we have to wait another year for the Home screen refresh which is so desperately needed, and people have been asking for for so long, but they can waste time and resources on being able to FaceTime in a mask? People could just FaceTime in a mask. Things that make you go WTF Apple?!

Honestly, I'm more than happy with iOS 12 being more about bug fixes. Especially since iOS 11 added so many features that I've been waiting for.. multi-room audio and messages in the cloud were huge for me. I really can't think of anything I feel like they need to implement right away at this point... besides improving Siri.
