Your wife was forced by Apple to install the new OS? Holly Molly! I would sue them.
Luckily, non of my family members were "forced" to do such a terrible thing! They all got a notification on the settings, letting them know there was an update (as usual)

And I assume your family members were all smart enough to look for a profile of another Apple platform on the Internet, then install it in order to be in control of their update by blocking forced downloads triggered once popping in the "Software Update" section despite "Automatic Updates" being set to off. Darn easy, they say. "Just works", they say.

Ok? So if I can get a phone for as little as possible while satisfying my need, why would I spend 1300+ CAD for an iPhone? I think $400 dollars phone do as much as iPhone can.

If you are after the sub-$400 phone market I can definitely see why you would want to upgrade every two years given that they usually come with good but more outdated specs and software. Personally I prefer buying a premium device and using it for a longer time. My 6s is still working perfectly fine and it will have lasted me 5 years when I upgrade next year. To each their own I guess.

Something like that could certainly be better. That said, the way it is, while it might take an extra tap to not have it install, the options for that are there.
Now that I have blocked repeated prompts to update as well as them downloading the iOS package I started seeing the nagging badge. How do I get rid of it?

I've gotten 3 nag messages in the past two days. Update was deleted from iPhone yet it still bugs me.
