iOS 14.2 Beta 2 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

I have been comparing my IPP11 and 11PM as it ”seemed” I was having to input my passcode more often.
I use both devices numerous times each day. In other words, a lot. Recommend saying that Peanut style (Jeff Dunham).

Over the past 2 days, I have had to imput my passcode:
11PM - 9 times
IPP11 - 21 times (including 3x this morning)

Not sure what is going on with this.
Anyone else seeing a change in FaceID behaviour? 🧐

Note: I have not reset or otherwise adjusted FaceID since updating to beta 2

Yes definitely seems to be doing it more again. One time I just unlocked it and went to unlock it and it already did it. Used to only do it if it was sitting locked for a while

well now that official 4K youtube is rolling out to aTV, it’s some bs that iPad Pro 10.5 doesn’t get it. same identical A series chip. unless the update also turns it on there, it seems it has to be some kind of artificial restraint. unless there is something im missing...

It's on YouTube's end, as throughout the 14.0 beta, we were seeing it enabled and disabled on various devices willy nilly, not tied into any iOS beta release or YouTube update.It's just like Google to do it, as they did it with Gmail's dark mode.

Widgets. Weather and Calendar

Calendar first - you can see it in one of the screenshots below.
As of this morning on my 11 ProMax, the Widget stopped showing upcoming appointments. Shows Nada.

Weather next.
I suspect it is more than just the widgets.

IPP11 and 11PM.
IPP11 - the Widget and Safari page don’t match at all. Current is off by 3 degrees, forecast and pretty much all else disagree
11PM - the Widget and App don’t match at all. Current is off by 3 degrees, forecast and pretty much all else disagree

Interestingly the widget on both match. The App and Safari page don’t and are different than the widget.

That said, actual outside temp when these screenshots were take was 63F.
When is Apple going to fix this mess.

Ya know...the weather widget is an interesting issue. For me, sometimes the widget is dead on to what it says in-app. Others, it’s off by just ONE degree. On very rare occasions, there’s a couple degree difference like the one you posted.

I've been using a Netatmo Weather Station at home along with Carrot's Netatmo integration, and comparing the actual temperature in my backyard as opposed to whatever the Weather app is reporting, it's ALWAYS way off for me. Like, not just the temperature, but the actual conditions. Seeing things like 78º & Sunny when it's 65º & Storming. That's just the app.. The Widget's then also off from what the Weather app is showing, which is off.. I just don't use it.

Sadly I find it more off than even in the same ballpark.
Not sure what is going on. :(

either way, if it’s not enabled then that’s just dumb

Alert Volume

An issue I had throughout iOS 13, which seemed to be fixed in 14, has come back in the latest beta.

If I have "change with buttons" enabled, the ringer/alert volume will change after a FaceTime speaker call to match the media playback volume. As I usually have the ringer volume close to max, and the media playback volume close to mute, this is irritating. I've had to toggle "change with buttons" off. Which is annoying, as I like it on!

What I have run into on the IPP11 2020 - there is a lag in Messages with the onscreen kb. There is a lg in Notes and Messages using the Logitech Folio (BT?). Using the Magic Keyboard, the onscreen kb pops up on Safari, Messages, Mail, Notes, and some other apps.

ugh. It got worse in beta 2

Stupid office 365 has issues like twice in one week across entire world ! Don’t worry it’s working now

This beta is pretty bad. Things become unresponsive all the time. Not to mention the issues with AirPods which haven’t been fixed for few months now.

Hi guys, has anyone experienced whatsapp issues where videos received do not play?

I've received a few videos but since updating to 14.2 these videos don't play.

Thanks Rob. I was going to delete and reinstall the app as I thought something had gone wrong just form me somehow.

What's Test Flight?

That's on of the few things left I want from Android is to be able to control multiple volumes from the home screen. Heck I would even live with having to dig into settings a little to change them. I know there's at least four:

Ringer
A media that does apps
Then there's another annoying one for videos opened in FB or such that ignores the volume rocker. And the only time I can change it is while a video plays, which of course starts full blast ignoring silent mode :mad:
And then the same thing with navigation volume. Can only change it for the short time it speaks directions

I've been good except it still randomly unpins message threads. One randomly came back at some point but disappeared later just as randomly. And I swore patch notes showed it was fixed

I found the same hassle - especially if in a work environment or late at night. Now use the Control Center first to check on the speaker volume - easy and safer I have found
