naturally, but it can be quite uncomfortable reaching under the various plastic covers that are place on counters nowadays. If you have your Apple Watch on and are wearing a mask, there’s a much easier way to make Apple Pay payments that doesn’t require unlocking your phone.
Use your Apple Watch.
Not sure what covers you are referring to, but I don’t see how using your phone instead of your watch solves that problem. Either way, you are bringing a device within reach of a POS terminal.naturally, but it can be quite uncomfortable reaching under the various plastic covers that are place on counters nowadays.
these kind. yes i realize that, but it's much easier to reach a terminal that is under one of those covers with a phone that is in your hand, rather than with a watch that is on your wrist. Not sure what covers you are referring to, but I don’t see how using your phone instead of your watch solves that problem. yea, you'd think they would consider the way this is meant to work, but i am surprised by how often they don't. it's all good, none of this is that important, but apple is all about convenience, so...Ah, thanks. I’ve never seen such a thing. Around here, the POS terminal is just located in front of any partition, or off to the side. Nobody reaching under anything.
Great, just in time to stop wearing masks!![]()
so I’ve rest my watch & now can’t find .5 beta ?Anyone else get this issue? View attachment 1723477
I’m in complete agreement, hence my winking face (which was also referencing how long it took Apple to implement this way to unlock).Im adopting the Asian culture, 4 months before the pandemic I was on a bus with somebody sneezing and coughing directly on me and was pissed at how they weren’t even taught to cover their mouth with an arm (I then got sick and it almost ruined my vacation). The west can do better even with normal cold and flu. We don’t have to accept tons of sick days and lost productivity.
From now on if you feel sick wear a freaking mask. It’s common courtesy no matter what you have, why make somebody else miserable for no reason?
Yes manually turn Bluetooth on and off on the watch and it’ll fix it!Anyone else get this issue? View attachment 1723477
Still hasn’t workedYes manually turn Bluetooth on and off on the watch and it’ll fix it!
So this is working for me faster than FaceID by fractions of a second but doing AB tests it is a bit faster which is bonkers that it can detect I’m wearing a mask and look for watch to unlock faster than the standard FaceID
What fixed it for me was to reboot my watch.Still hasn’t worked![]()
Fixed iPhone had to be connected to WiFi for initial set up?Yes manually turn Bluetooth on and off on the watch and it’ll fix it!

Is your watch locked on your wrist? Why?Finally. However, the passcode for my watch is four digits so I may need to see if I can up that security. This sounds great.
I hate masks a plenty and this is one of the reasons.
This has to be a troll. LOLIt is simply false that “Right now, with a face mask on, Face ID does not work”.
One of the selling points of FaceID is that it intelligently adapts to changes in appearance and also that it simply isn’t using a flat photo of your face. If you’ve used a mask for more than a day or two it knows. I can imagine that most people saying this have probably only left their house once over the past year. If you consistently wear the same type of face mask the same way it easily learns. Worked on my last iPhone, continued to work on my new iPhone. A day of inconvenience, but by now most people should have it working.
I think that instead of using FaceID or entering a passcode, you can press some button on your Apple Watch to unlike the phone. So if your wife grabs your phone, and you PRESS a button on your watch, then the phone is unlocked. No need for her to look at the phone at all.Does anyone know if this means FaceID authentication is disabled completely (so ANY face will unlock with the paired watch nearby) or if it just relies on the top half of the face? In other words, if my wife grabs my phone and looks at it while I'm close by wearing my Apple Watch, will it unlock for her? Or only me, as long as the upper parts of our faces look different?
Doing that your phone thinks that some stranger looked at the phone for the last 200 days. Might easily happen if you and your spouse have the same iPhone model in the same colour. You need to look at the screen, then enter the passcode immediately. That makes the phone think "the legitimate owner looked at the screen, but I didn't recognise them. Maybe I should adapt". Depending on your mask, there may be just not enough information to recognise you anyway.I've stared at my iPhone with a mask on for most of the last 200 or so days and not once has it unlocked my iPhone with Face ID.
