Click the crown once. Scroll out so you can see all the apps, then press and hold on the main screen with your finger and you'll get a request for Grid View vs List View.

Sometimes you have to press and hold in the upper right area of the screen to get it to toggle (as center doesn't always trigger it for me).

it seems like iOS is more and more like Androids, namely the uniqueness of iOS made me buy an iPhone, of course, and the devices themselves are great. But I get the feeling that every year it gets worse and worse ... I miss iOS 10, I think it was the best iOS version so far. I hope Apple still manages to surprise me 😎

The beauty of Apple is that you take it out of the box and you can just use it. No need to fidgit, spend hours customizing through countless settings menus with options ... While some customization is nice, I definitely agree. I had a blast rooting my Android device and putting custom roms / themes on it ... but now, I just want a phone that works that stays out of my way.

From what I'm seeing here, I am ok with it. It doesn't seem like Apple is going Android. Some people I know have LOTS of apps installed and we already have a list view for Apps - it's just in a longer list of other things - so putting that app list in its own container seems to make sense to me.

Software is really making strides on the watch. It’s still a couple of years before we will see the full potential of these devices and ever longer before it matures as a category. The future is bright!

Excuse me but how can I see the list view like that on the Apple Watch? 😱

asking for a friend ... on his 2nd Apple Watch
I would prefer Apple straight up copy what Android has been doing since the beginning with widgets and home screen/app layout. It’s a much better design than Apple’s 13 year old grid.

Please give us the ability to play music directly on the watch's built-in speaker. Even Samsung watch has this ability!

For a start I would like to be able to place the damn app icons anywhere on the screen including the size of the „grid“

Brings back memories of my Note 3 days... when I'd root and get ... wow I can't remember the launcher name but I remember paying for it but it let me put apps ANYWHERE on the grid - and size them down so small I could fit them all on the home screen. Loved it. Looked ugly, but was nice to have everything on the home screen without folders. :p

I'll pay anything for a better Apple TV remote. (But don't tell Apple that I said that. Just tell them that I'm anxious for it to be available.)

I can’t believe that there’s been virtually zero updates to the iPhone home screen in 13 years.

What’s changed on the home screens since the first OS? You can change the background and you can long-press icons for shortcuts... that’s about it.

13 years of having the same exact static grid of icons. If the best Apple can come up with after all this time is a “list view” toggle, I will be sorely disappointed.

In iOS 14 I would like to see...

A native phone call recorder and transcriber.

When I swipe up on a picture I would like to see all information about a file (not just location) and have the ability ro rename the file right there.

iOS needs native ringtone creation. It would also be cool to record a sound OR choose a song OR get the sound from wherever and loop/edit it and make it a ringtone.

iOS needs the ability to easily and freely combine pictures when editing in Photos or Camera.

From the control centre, when I press the bluetooth icon, I should go straight to the bluetooth screen. Reduce extra steps. Currently when I press the bluetooth icon it opens to the 6 icons view. Why?

Here’s one thing I wish Apple would do: if you use folders, when you long press on an app (either inside or outside of a folder) it would give you an option to move to folder and then a list of folders. The current method of having to drag an app with your fingers into a folder is not a great experience. I also wish there was a place in settings where you could easily re-arrange apps in folders. Again, having to drag an app with your finger between pages within a folder is cumbersome. Half the time I end up dragging an app out of a folder because of my fat fingers. They could make this much better.
There's very little about on-device app management that is great. It's all a clumsy tower built on top of (limited) legacy behaviour that Apple need to knock down and build from the ground up again.

I love the Apple TV remote.. meh. With a remote cover so to easier know which way is up! lol
I work it much faster than comparable devices and remotes on Amazon Fire TV and the Shield TV with a "traditional" streaming player remote.

All these features sound promising, but one thing that has been lacking for years and I surely hope finally gets added is the ability to set default apps! Kind of annoying how its a thing that Android has had for years, but Apple still hasn't...

You can use any Android phone exactly the same way, take it out of the box and just use it. Android's home screen can work exactly like iOS's home screen if you don't want to take advantage of the ability to change it to suit your needs. You can even ignore the existence of the app drawer as it's hidden anyway.
I don't know who spends hours customizing through countless settings menus with options, there's no need for such things on Android.
On a lot of Android phones you can install themes without rooting, in general when it comes to costumisation rooting is not really necessary.

I don't know why you keep mentioning rooting but the app is called Nova Launcher and it's just a standard 3rd party launcher. It doesn't require root and it can also be used for free, the paid version only enables a few more options.
And it doesn't have to look ugly, it can look really great if you know what you are doing or you can simply download a few Nova presents with the desired home screen look or arrangement. It's very easy.
