It’s brilliant, quick and easy… the more people know about it the better as by default a lot think you have to do a long painful restore and lose data. This way was made for beta testers to easily jump back/forward or refresh your iOS when in need. Which takes the anxiety out of being on a beta because you have so much confidence with this control.

Glad it all went smoothly buddy.

Some extra personal tips, I always quit out of apps first, and restart the phone and mac, just to be on the super safe side. Doing a full back up to mac should be standard practise also, just incase ??

Can I just confirm, can I easily restore all my settings and data after downgrading to 15.1.1 using the IPSW? Do I restore from iCloud or is it just an over the top downgrade?

Is there anything else I should know or do?

I had to do a total memory wipe and then restore from my last iCloud backup on 15.1. My activity and health app would not work or sync at all. The backup I chose was from late September 2021, but I did not lose any of my most recent messages, photos, videos, anything. Worked like a charm. So no worries IMO, if you have to go the same route as I.

Ok so I know wash your hands when you arrive at home has not been working since 15.1 but now my August smart lock stopped working when returning to home and I asked siri to remind me to do something when I get home she said I’m all set but when I get home it took like 10 minutes before it reminded me, use to be when I walked in my door .. Now I’m wonder the speed of GPS locating seems like its not on point with this release either ..hoping for beta 4 soon..??

I had the same issue. From what I could remember, I always had to setup as new or restore when downgrading via ipsw way. No matter what. Mostly everything came back. My iMessage isn’t the latest conversation. Backup was sometime oct. haha o’well.

I could see this. (Just before downgrading late last night) My smart lock geofencing and living room light Alexa routine started to be inconsistent in the last week. (Beta 3)

Anyone still seeing Find My draining their battery with background activity, even with the app force-closed and Background App Refresh turned off?
And it’s turned OFF under your appleID?

Personally I have 100% had no issues after. and ive upgraded and downgraded or just reinstalled the IPSW 3 times in this iOS 15 cycle.

ive been on betas since 15. so I cant specifically say in relation to 15.1.1 why id need to change.
How do you downgrade without losing data? I'm on windows

Only thing I might try but don’t think it will particularly change the out come, but worth a shot, is delete the OTA and the beta profile. Reinstall the profile and try again.

Otherwise IPSW is your only option. Back up, give it a go. Nothing to lose.
Unfortunately can’t download the ipsw. The Apple Canadian site gives me invalid certificate, so I tried to view the site anyways, macOS asks to add it in using username and password and gets stuck in that loop. ?

I may as well wipe the iPad clean and restore from backup. ?

Thoughts on a new beta today being that it’s the day before a two day Thanksgiving holiday? I was surprised one didn’t come out yesterday.

There seems to be some confusion updating using Windows with the IPSW.

What works for me:
Download IPSW and save to desktop.

Connect iPhone to iTunes and if there is an new update iTunes will ask to download and install. Click cancel.

While holding the Shift key, click check update.

A window will open up and then navigate to desktop, or where ever you saved the IPSW.

Click on the IPSW and iTunes will start extracting the file.

Caution: During the extraction iTunes will prompt your phone for the password. If you don't enter the password within
a few seconds, it will throw a default and say unable to update and you'll have to start all over. Once the password is entered, every thing else is automatic.

After update, turn phone off after a couple of minutes and back on. I've had zero problems and data loss using this method.

If downgrading to a previous IOS version the same exact procedure works, 0% data loss.

Just noticed that my health and activity data is not syncing so looks like I need to do a reset.

Under this beta I am noticing it is taking longer to charge my 13 ProMax.
From 50% to 100% took almost 4 hours. That is plugged into a 65W charger.
Everything else I have charges faster. Wireless is even slower.

Yep. Just restore from iCloud using your last iOS 15.1 backup. Even if its a month or two ago. It'll still pull down all your recent data (Messages, Photos, Contacts, Health, Activity, etc...). Worked like a charm for me.

I think logging out of iCloud, delete data from phone when prompted, then log back in and it pulls all your information back down from the cloud works the same, no?

Will logging out of iCloud, and then when prompted delete data from phone, then log back in and it will pull all that info back down, might refresh everything. Worth a shot.

Or I can’t remember as I haven’t done in this ages but, would unpairing the watch and repairing it sync everything back to your phone? Would be something else I’d try.

I had the same issue after downgrading to 15.1.1 and rather than risk losing my health and fitness data (which is very precious!) I decided just to upgrade again to 15.2 Beta 3. The health and fitness data then reappeared again. I wasn’t overly confident I could recover it on 15.1.1.

Happy though to see how easy it is to downgrade.

Logging out and back in to iCloud worked thank you
