I would like to quote Eddie Izzard's take on updates, terms, and conditions: ”And nothing has changed”. As far as I can discern.

Which phone? Mine is less than 300mb for my 13pm. I am updating from 15.6
IP XR. I did come from the RC of 15.6 instead of the final so perhaps that's why it did the full download. Even though technically RC and final are the same.

For me, personally, the battery seems to last much better, and the phone works much more smoothly.

Actually I agree. While I didn't feel like I had "battery issues" with 15.6, today my phone has substantially better battery remaining than usual. Typically after an update an iPhone takes a hit for a little while. Anyway 15.6.1 in fact does seem to be better on battery. At least on day 1 after updating.

The news is saying something about a hack where people can get in and control your Apple device. The update has additional security to keep this from happening.
