It is. Not sure the point of the article tbh.
It was on by default for me too once my firmware was updated. However I did like that the article had instructions on how to turn off the alerts when leaving home (or any desired address) because I was getting annoyed with those and was tempted to turn them off entirely.

Hopefully I don't experience the same false alerts as others, I haven't so far.

For some reason, ”find my” alerts are going to an old phone I no longer have. Anyone know how to change it to my new iPhone ?

Thanks

I have the proper firmware but it says this feature is not supported...Any clue?

Me too. I see this on my main phone a 6S. Looking at my 6S+, and my iPad Air 2, both tell me it’s on, that the separation is tied to my 6S. Additionally, I can tap the box on the 6S+ and ipa2 to see details and explanations.

My watch, as per the article shows info about the app1 status but that it won’t (can’t really because it’s not cellular) show separation alerts. (I assume this is because if the phone is not near the watch such alerts can’t reach the watch so no point in creating a confusing sometimes it relays sometimes not situation.)

would like to know what’s up with the 6S primary phone indicating not supported (although the 6S+ doesn’t.)

Edit: all devices are on latest Public betas of 15.1 and watchOS 8.1.

It doesn't matter. I turned it on on Friday, and I don't get a notice till I'm over a half a mile away. And I also got a notification when I was a couple miles from home while on the train, that I left them behind when they were actually in my backpack with me. Def needs a lot of work.
I’m sure this will improve a lot as devices in the field transition over time to have the majority containing the UWB chips in them.

If you are unsure if you erased the device, and you see it in the Devices section of Find My, I’d recommend using the Erase Device button at bottom. If its lost/stolen use Mark As Lost before erasing.

Then after all that, if you don’t expect to ever see it again, use Remove from Account as explained at top.

This is cool! I was in Red Rooster and I received an alert on my iPhone that my AirPods Pro were in the car.

This feature still needs some work. This notification is announced to me every day, while I am wearing my earpods, on my bike leaving the office. iPhone 12 Pro, 15.0.1

Ah, I get basically the same thing - my iPhone 8 says, "Not supported", while my iPad Air 3 says it's enabled for my iPhone and knows about my home.

What’s missing for me is an alert for leaving your charging case behind, or at least the ability to locate a lost charging case. I lost mine in a park (it slipped out of the silicon case dangling for the last time from my belt loop) while hiking with my dogs, and didn’t notice until I got home, a mile away from the park. Find My reassured me that I still had my pro buds, but there was no info about the charging case.
The charging case has no radios, they rely on the actual airpods for transmission of data, so don't think it's sadly possible.

It is. This article is kinda pointless. I had to turn it off because it was obnoxious getting an alert on my commute to work that I left my pros and max at home. Like shouldn't it learn that? The feature needs a lot of work.
I have an Airtag on my keys and wallet and I often leave the house for a walk with my dog and I was constantly getting the "you left behind" notification. Had to turn it off

I’m also getting the ‘Not supported’ message under Notifications for the AirPodPro. iPhone Pro 11 on latest iOS 15.0.1, AirPodPro on 4A400. Here in Australia.

The idea of this is amazing. The execution, not so much. Hopefully, in a short time, this code will start to shape up. For me, I need it to be more accurate, and much, much faster. 🤞

Update: Personally, I think this may be one of those inclusions that works haphazardly with the current hardware, but is aimed at upcoming hardware.

This feature does not work correctly or I don't understand how it works. Three times, and as recently as this morning, I got a notificaton that I left the APPs behind at home or in my office. However, the entire time they were in my pocket in the car. I'm not sure what is wrong but it's clearly not working correctly.

Same here. It is extremely unreliable at this point. I was running errands and saw that I had missed too notifications about leaving them behind. I panicked and reached for my pocket. They were in there the whole time.

Everything related to Find My and APP has been super buggy for me. Firmware on APP and iOS on latest update.

I used Find My to play a sound from APP one time successfully. Now it won't do that, won't locate them even if I've just been using them and closed the case with the AirPods in the case one second ago.

Doesn't matter if my iPhone is literally next to the APP, if I'm at the other end of the room, in another room, outside the building, downtown while AirPods are at home, etc.

All I get is the "keep moving around" type message. It will neither play a sound from APP nor show me where they are or if I'm getting closer to them.

APP seems as "offline" as before the latest APP firmware update.

Also getting the "not supported" message even though it seems like it's set to "ON" by default? I don't quite get if it's a bug or supposed to be on by default, or if it's actually on. I certainly don't get any messages when they are left behind.

I got an alert that my airpods were left behind as I drove down a large arterial road.

They were in my pocket.

I've received half a dozen false alarms myself. Clearly some fine-tuning needs to be done.
