This feature does not work correctly or I don't understand how it works. Three times, and as recently as this morning, I got a notificaton that I left the APPs behind at home or in my office. However, the entire time they were in my pocket in the car. I'm not sure what is wrong but it's clearly not working correctly.
Same for me, so far over the past week or so I've seen the "You forgot!" notification 3-4 times, and it's always a false positive.

I'm not seeing the Notify When Left Behind option in Find My on 15.0.1.
I can confirm I'm on the latest firmware for the AirPods Pro.

When mine first updated the option was greyed out. No amount of removing, repairing, resetting would fix it. Then I realized my iPhone was no longer in my devices list in Find My... Somehow find my iPhone got turned off. Turning it back on made my APPs ungrey the option. Check that if you're having issues.

Got notified every time I left the house without my AirPods, so I added home as a location, but don't want to deal with this notification every time I leave them in the car, every hotel I stay at, and so on.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the airpods only communicate their last known location when they were connected and out of the case. They cannot update the location in your case. So, if you grab your airpods off your nightstand before leaving you are likely to get a notification (unless that address is ignored for reminders)

Edit: I was wrong it does track APPs while they're in a case...and thats nice.

I think this article is causing confusion, since it appears that not all devices that run iOS 15 are compatible with this feature. I've seen mixed results with iPhone 12 models mentioned in the comments, and I'd assume iPhone 13 models are compatible, but what about iPhone 11 and older iOS 15 devices?

Can the author update this article with which iPhones are compatible?

I had the same issue as others have mentioned. No option at all for the notification. I unpaired and re-paired the AirPod Pros. The option was then greyed out and was listed as not supported. I then powered off my iPhone 12 Pro Mac and then powered it back on. When I returned to the Find My app the option was there and was turned on automatically at my home address. I am on the most recent iOS 15.1 Developer Beta.

I hope that may help someone.

you wish there was a what? What does that mean.
Plug-less

What do you mean plug-less? The only plug is for charging the case, and it'll charge off a Qi charger as well.

I've never been a fan of earbuds that keep make a tight earplug-style seal in your ears. I much prefer the earpods/airpods style; it's much more comfortable.

But man I'd love to have spatial audio, find my support, and all the other bells and whistles the Airpods Pro allow.

Since the update and my attempt to unpair / repair my APP I’ve noticed that the Optimised Battery Charging toggle was Off, and I cannot switch it back on, the toggle is always off when I go back to settings….

can you check your settings and see if you are affected as well?
iPhone 11 on latest 15.0.2
