That's horrible:

Though we aren't 6 weeks past launch, this is another perspective:
I agree. The estimate is horrible.

For such a lackluster release (in terms of features) it’s amazing how many bugs there are. Half of the major features have been delayed, and they weren’t that amazing and earth shattering to begin with. SharePlay? Cool, but not earth breaking
It’s not a lackluster release. Lots of good and tweaked stuff even with features that are coming later.

Does downloading iOS 15 mean I agree to their terrible CSAM plans?
If you have nothing to hide why is CSAM plans an issue... protecting the innocent or mentally challenged is society's responsibility. Download iOS 15 and embrace a company that unlike a lot of commercial bodies is open about the importance of personal privacy... I repeat if you have nothing to hide.. you have nothing to fear! Stop listening to the media and research the facts, CSAM does not allow anyone to view your private images.

an apple agreement is always subject to change.
Yes, but very little they can do until the data goes onto their servers and becomes their proprietary data as the courts have endorsed for decades. Don’t upgrade to iOS 15 and you haven’t consented to device scanning. The device and data on your phone is your proprietary property and they would need a search warrant for that.

So I can’t see - at this time - Apple opting you in on iOS 14 with an agreement change especially if you never updated after they made the CSAM announcement.

Not enabling iCloud is “your get out of jail free card” - it doesn’t stop them from scanning - but prevents charges from being laid as until iCloud is enabled, that data is yours and requires a search warrant.

But that’s just my opinion.

Apple can backport CSAM to iOS 14 if they desire. Being iOS 14 doesn’t mean you will be CSAM free. You prolly need to use an old less powerful device.

I’m having trouble with my watch talking to the new iPhone on iOS 15. It’s not visually displayed in the watch app for iOS. The watch app for iOS says there’s a software update (red circle with 1) but will not say what it is or let me update. Anyone else?

Really wish i didnt upgrade to ipados 15 as the homescreen now is terrible and even worse is the safari bookmark two touch disaster.
I feel the same way when I upgraded my iPhone 7 Plus on iOS 13.4.1 to iOS 14.3

I don't need the App Library and the new widgets get reset from time to time, meaning, I have 3 widgets but it gets reset to the more than 3 widgets default...

But iOS 14 is more stable than iOS 13 so that's still okay, I guess?

Downgraded back to 14.8 after 48 hours on 15.0 on my XR.

Overall performance was terrible and obviously not optimised correctly for the A12.

Safari UI was both slower and a worse user experience.

I thought 13 was bad on launch. This is a new record.

It’ll take a lot for me to upgrade to 15.x - and Monterey.

it’s not just the bugs and overall lack of quality it’s that Safari - which I love in 14 and Big Sur - is awful.

I know invoking Steve Jobs is useless, and I may just be crabby because this time around it seems I am impacted by more bugs than usual, but it really seems like iOS is at a point where we need "someone" to stop a meeting and draw a cross/plus sign on a white board and get everyone back to the basics. Stop trying to reinvent iOS and just spend some time polishing it.

What is wrong with your home screen? FOr me ipadOS 15 made the home screen useful.

CSAM literally gets around encryption and let other people view your private images. It’s just a bit more targeted. If you have nothing to hide, good for YOU ONLY.

It doesn’t in my mind and I hope Apple knows it. I’m heavily against CSAM but I’ll download it eventually at some point when they fix some bugs present in iOS 14 like the 15 seconds bug in Apple Music.

This is what happens when the software doesn’t automatically update and old versions still signed. The article doesn’t appear to make a distinction between between iPhone models, so I would imagine the bulk of the devices are new devices simply running iOS 15 out of the box.
