Almost pointless update (for me). My 13 Pro don’t support dynamic island, clean energy charging is US only, Fitness+ apparently not available in my country yet.

Oh wait, I can delete the Wallet app! 🙄

Order tracking in Wallet app now works when you check out on a site using Apple Pay

What doesn’t work is skipping captcha on Macrumors.com…

I have 2 different iPhones, both in the beta program testing 16 & 16.1 and since it's released, they both still have different versions of IOS 16.1. Is that normal? And I reported a significant bug in IOS 16 that Apple fixed on one iPhone, but not the other, but the bug is fixed on both. Hmm.

Deleting a conversation in Messages now gives you the option to report it as junk all in one shot, instead of getting a second prompt asking if it should be reported as junk.

My Safari has been broken since I bought the phone. I'm glad this finally fixed it. Every time I clicked to sync Safari bookmarks it would freeze ... for days ... unless I turned iCloud syncing off. Works perfectly now. And now my iPhone 14 PM finally feels like a stable phone.

Still holding out hope that they'll someday implement per-app volume settings. I'd love to be able to set important applications and their notifications louder than games and frivolous stuff. It's annoying to have a game come blasting out of my phone at full volume or have important app notifications go unnoticed because I cranked the volume way down.

Where is the clipboard fix? It still asks every time you copy/paste something across apps.

You can still sell or trade in your 13 pro and get a 14 pro or pro max like the cool kids in the neighborhood but I can already predict your response 🙄

I am on iOS 15.7. Is it safe to upgrade now or better stay on a stable 15.7? How is the battery life?

After installing ipad os 16.1 on my 2021 version of ipad pro 12.9 inch, I noticed that the color changes when I scroll through a website or any other app. The text is first black and then turns brown.

We’re you using the toilet at the time?

"Clean Energy Charging"? What a joke.

* invents a full iphone case made out of car air filter *

(turns Clean Energy Charging off before enclosing iPhone inside the case)

There!

A lot of nice Feature updates, but there's also important security fixes too, including a zero-day fix. But no one seems to care about those...

That depends on your threat model. So if you're not targeted by a nation state, it's probably not a high priority.

Other New Features

Know of a new feature in iOS 16.1 that we left out? Let us know in the comments below.

A a nice new feature you forgot to include is the Duplicates utility in the Photos app, found near Recently Deleted and Hidden.

the duplicate feature had been there in ios 16.0. i had high hope on that. the feature does work. however, it was hoping it could detect those similar shots that i like to review and eliminate.

the threshold that apple used for scanning photos is too stringent that the feature could *only* identify almost identical photos hence make this feature less useful.

Changing wallpapers is so confusing. There still seems to be no way to just change the wallpaper without having to re-do all the widgets.

And still no "nice" way of having a stock wallpaper as the springboard background, but a custom photo as the lock screen!

My "fix" was to download the wallpapers and add them to my photo library.
