iOS 16.1 RC ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

Anyway, got back from the UC to get a follow up test (work req - their paperwork), took a photo of the test results on my 13 ProMax to send in.
Noticed the paper color was very off color and the typing was blurring toward orange yellow (see attached - its my quasi redacted COVID form). It is standard white printer paper with black fonts.

Late morning lighting on my coffee table.

I really hope the rest of RC is better.
Will update my IPad Pro later today.

OMG! I wish you speedy recovery. Think that Apple will release the iOS 16.1 next week and be happy. Don’t even try to make yourself unhappy because you are positive for COVID-19. My test result was also positive in July 2021 but I am very well now. Text me if you need anything and I will happily help you on what you ask from me. 😊

The dynamic outline completely ruins the entire purpose and idea of the dynamic outline they showed us all back in September. It’s almost always there, big and garish, makes me sick. I was cooking last night while watching tv and had a pill shaped ring for the Apple TV, and a gross orange ring for the timer. Looks like something you’d see on a jitterbug made for seniors, it’s beyond ridiculous. For a company known for its “simplistic designs”, this has got to be the most cluttered, ugly, and outright bad design moves they’ve ever made. This alone is such an eyesore I’m thinking of returning this thing and getting a Pixel 7pro. It’s really bad when Android is more Apple-like than Apple.

Argh, this annoying window still pops up every single time in App Store after redeeming 3 months of free Arcade.

The only way out of this bug is to create a new account, or wait apple to fix this which can take ages.

I dont think fresh install of iOS would make any difference to this popup, I think this popup is connected to your apple account. I never shouldve redeemed that stupid arcade offer.

I turned if off. All I know is it can prevent your phone from charging even if you want your phone charging.

I have it off. It doesn’t seem to make any difference for me, at least where I’m located (northeastern Wisconsin currently).

Power on & off sounds work now. In the last two betas, only the power on sound worked for me.

Two things about the dynamic island outline:

1) You only see it when there's a live activity AND the wallpaper is dark (at least around the DI). The outline itself is the same color as the live activity's icon inside the DI. For example, if I'm playing an album with mostly brown cover art, the outline around the DI is faint brown, as is the mini graphic equalizer in the right side of the DI. If I'm playing an album with mostly white cover art, the DI outline is faint white, as is the graphic equalizer.

2) If you don't like the DI outline, you can swipe right on it and it will go away (but so will the icons inside the DI - the live activity will still be happening, you just won't see it represented in the DI). You can swipe left on the area of the DI and it will come back.

More visible on a dark background, it appears when something starts happening inside the "island" and then it goes away. Like if you unlock or start playing music/podcasts. But it goes away after like a second in most cases. But if you have AOD, have a dark background and have music playing, it is persistent.

Not at all, Apple is doing such insane things that the only way to describe them is with colorful language. At times, it even looks like a dynamic dildo, the ring pulsates and gets longer and shorter as if it’s trying to decide what to do before settling on a long pill shaped thing with ring around the collar.

The fact that Apple came up with this, and hasn’t removed it, proves they are a lost cause. I can only imagine the trash they have in store for us in the pipeline. Maybe colored rings around icons? Colored rings around the dock? Colored rings around people? Who wouldn’t want a blue ring around all the people in their photos added by computational photography and Apples advanced machine learning? Maybe colored rings around every keyboard button as well? What about colored rings around the buttons in the phone dialer? I remember an old jailbreak tweak that did that, always thought it was ugly. Where does it end?

At the very least Apple could have done like they do with so many other things and given us an on/off switch for the dirty dynamic outline in accessibility settings. But nope, they are gonna force this hideous crap onto everyone no matter how bad it is. And remember, 99.9% of people with 14 pro’s aren’t big time devs like us who are running the beta. The general public hasn’t seen how bad their phones are about to get until the public release drops next week. This turd on the top of my screen ruins the entire experience and I cannot get past it, it needs to go away or this phone is getting thrown into the ocean.

It comes on as soon as the phone goes into AOD mode which is another baffling thing, like why would I need this big garish outline on my screen to pop up when the phone goes into AOD? Seriously Apple is trolling us at this point.

Or, just swipe right on the outlined DI and it will disappear.

Oh ok, I just updated and tried it out and my volume buttons aren’t working at all. Jesus Christ.
